Review content:
I'm a real foodie, and I'm always on the lookout for a great new restaurant. Riverview easily holds up in service, ambience, and food to every other restaurant of its caliber. One of the real strengths of this restaurant is that the chef creates very simple, recognizable dishes but uses excellent ingredients and superb preparation to deliver them to perfection. I started off with oysters two ways, and got two perfect luscious oysters, served with complimentary sauces. The vinaigrette really accentuated the sweetness of the oyster; the cocktail sauce the sea-salt. The salad was perfectly dressed, and--the really impressive part--the halibut was cooked to tender perfection, with a saffron rice underlying it that gave the dish a hint of exotic vanilla flavor. Finally, the desserts were fantastic. I had a lemon napoleon--the chef was not afraid to let the accompanying berries provide the needed contrast to the citrusy curd. It was just sweet enough to be dessert, but not so sweet as to be cloying.
I'm always on the lookout for good food done well--and Riverview delivered that in spades.
My only regret on this trip was that it was not warm enough to sit outside. I'll definitely be going back this summer so I can experience that, too.
Pros: ambience, great wine selections, and wonderful food
Cons: i wish i lived closer!
