Review content:
Philadelphia's tapas scene is admittedly lacking. Amada, while very good for the area, may disappoint those more familiar with tapas having had it elsewhere. Very good are the charcuterie smoked meats as well as the spicy potatoes, which are like crispy french fries drizzled with a spicy sauce. Small, tasty ham croquettes are served atop a very tasty sauce and are a good choice. The spanish tortilla with mustard is so-so, and the grilled squid and calamari both taste (not surprisingly) indistinguishable. Well, the calamari was nicely crisped but both could use a little more flavor. Skip the grilled mushrooms, as they were overpriced and a bit sour tasting. The desserts feature a fair trio of chocolates and a better dessert that is part flan part creme brulee. The service was fabulous and knowledgeable, the decor was fine, but the food lagged a bit behind. It's also rather expensive for the amount of food you get as other posters have noted. As I said, good but not great if you've had great tapas in the past.
