Review content:
I think one of the most important things about choosing a nursing home for a loved one is to make impromptu visits during the day and nightime.
Don't call ahead, don't ask for a tour. Just show up. Show up around 7am when it's hectic and breakfast time, or around 5 when it's hectic and dinner time. SEE how the facility works when they're not expecting you.
Once you make the decision to put your loved one in a home, continue to check up during non-visiting hours. YOu have the right. Ask to see their list of complaints that have been filed against them by residents and their family members.
I will only say that I would advise anyone who was interested in putting their family member in Emerald Care to really do your research on this facility. Talk to the residents and the staff. Go with your gut feeling. If it doesn't feel, look, and smell right, it probably isn't.
