Review content:
This review will be in multiple sections, the first dealing with the food, the second, dealing with the service.
First off the food, is great, menu is sort of small, but I can appreciate that because it gives the restaurant a chance to focus on a few great dishes rather than a lot of so-so dishes. I have had the jalapeño popper appetizer which is nice and spicy and has great flavor. The chicken wing appetizer was surprisingly good as they are nice and crispy and have a hint of jalapeño flavor as well. For an entrée I had the mixed chicken and steak fajitas which were good. The portions were very small for fajitas as compared to other local Mexican style restaurants and the steak has way more flavor than the chicken style.
The drinks from first glance are a steal, but definitely think twice about ordering the $1 Margaritas. They have virtually no alcohol in them and are very sugary. You have the option to pay an extra dollar for another shot which is still a deal, but I have a feeling they are not giving you another shot considering you still cannot taste any tequila. I would suggest drinking beers here unless you want a sugar rush.
Now the service, I don't know where to start. I think it really does fall with the managers as they need to make sure their staff is fully trained, that the restaurant is ready for a busy night and that they need to strive to please its patrons, especially in it's first week here. The service experience was horrible and that's being generous. We had a table of 6 and were seated on promptly. At two points in the dinner we had waited for over 20 minutes for margaritas and if the waitress wasn't blaming it on the bar staff, the manager was blaming it on the waitress for being flustered. A constantly blame game the whole time, which doesn't look good when a manager blames a staff member he is supposed to be managing.
When I brought up the issues with the same manager who blamed his staff he again placed the blame on her and said that she's flustered without taking any blame himself or trying to remedy the situation at all, just walked off. We had waited for about 10 minutes to get or checks, which were incorrect and had the wrong people's food on some checks, so we sent them back and it took over 20 more minutes to get the correct checks out at this point we spent 20 minutes eating and about an hour and fifteen waiting for something such as drinks, food or our checks.
Just as a courtesy I sent the Managing Partner an email on Sunday afternoon letting him know about the experience and have yet to receive a response.
Unfortunately I don't think this place is going to last long in this neighborhood unless it changes it's attitude around.
Pros: High Quality Tex-Mex Cuisine
Cons: Unsympathetic and Unresponsive Management
