My sister's birthday is coming up and wanted to get her a delicious and fun, yet affordable sheet cake. I did not want to go with the grocery store cakes. While they are delicious, they don't really offer the type of decorations I was looking for. Searching in CitySearch, I found A Baker's Dozen in Celebration at Six Forks. I called and asked for a price quote and ran some ideas with owner. She suggested I come in so that I could taste the cake and so she could show me a sample of what we discussed. First, let me say that Diane the owner and her baker Kathy are pleasant and accomodating. The scent when you walk in is heavenly and the sample I tasted as well as the many goodies I purchased were fantastic. Please don't think thay you are going to get the same type of creativity as you would with Edible Art, because you aren't. A Baker's Dozen does not use fondant, which is much harder to work with hence the higher prices at Edible Art, however you will get the same quality in the cakes, and it will be half the price. They also cater events, open at 7am to get the rush hour folks, and offer Wireless Internet. I recommend this bakery to anyone looking for some yummy pastries as well as those who want good customer service, and affordable, delicious, and creative cakes. Check them out, I promise you will be pleasantly surprised. Pros: good customer service, excellent pastries and cakes Cons: none
