The Baquet Insurance and Financial Services Group, Inc. and it’s Mexico City based partner, Grupo Consalud y CRESA, SA de CV, have signed an agreement with the Federal Mexican government to offer a new Mexico universal type healthcare, disability and government pension plan for the families of the approximately 30 million Mexican immigrants living and working in the USA.
The new Plan is expected to be a political boon for the Mexican Calderon Administration and will also be politically popular in the USA, as it will diminish the incentive for Mexican Immigrants and/or their families to utilize the USA Emergency Rooms for routine care. According to Steve Baquet, President and CEO of the Baquet Group, a recent UCLA Center of Health Policy Research Study indicates that annually for the past 15 years in California alone , 488,000 Mexican Immigrants and their families lack basic health insurance forcing them routinely into the high cost USA emergency room situation. “We will be working closely with the Baquet Group, Mexican Consular offices, and various immigrations rights groups to educate and promote this new product, and we hope to roll out the program in 2010”, states Doctor Ezequiel Velazco of Grupo Consalud.
The Public-Private partnership between the Mexican Government Social Security Administration (IMSS) and the Baquet Insurance Group will help alleviate the pressure on the US health care system as Mexican immigrants and their families will have access to quality healthcare at over 27,000 clinics throughout Mexico, as well as disability and retirement benefits not previously available.
Since the Mexican Government cannot directly market these services in the USA, The Baquet Group will have this accountability. Steve Baquet advises that his wife's company, ABC- A Baquet Company will market and service the new product in Arizona and their subsidiary, Grand Canyon Insurance Company, Inc. A Baquet Company will handle the USA multi-state distribution.
Steve Baquet has worked in Mexico City since 1981 and was involved in many international Fortune 500 Companies’ joint ventures involving logistics, infrastructure and transportation, including setting up the logistics and transportation plan for the Ford Hermosillo Assembly Plant. Marlene Baquet, a native of Venezuela, has been working in insurance and financial services in the USA since 2003.
The Baquet Family of Insurance and Financial Services Group and ABC- A Baquet Company are a top producers for over 30 major insurance companies in the Southwestern US, specializing in the Hispanic and internet markets.
