Review content:
I went to Amber for highlights awhile back. She was nice, but did not listen well and interrupted a lot. I was very careful to explain that my hair was already damaged from highlights put in my hair by an inexperienced Aveda stylist, and that I wanted lots of base color showing with definite streaks of highlights. I showed photographs and a sketch of what I wanted, plus a bulleted list of what I did and didn't want so that I would get the highlights I wanted and not have damage on top of damage. Despite the careful attempts to describe my needs, Amber put the highlights so close together that my hair ended up with a weird overall tint instead of streaks. It was heavily damaged a second time, and people asked me what had happened to it. I have been getting highlights in other states for many years, but only in Utah have stylists put the highlights so close together that they damage the hair and don't look like highlights. Amber had many years of experience, so I was surprised and disappointed at these results. She would greatly benefit from listening, not interrupting or resisting what the client is saying. I have since had much better luck with highlights and cuts by Cassie Dean at Zazou Salon, who was able to highlight my hair the way I wanted it done and without causing more damage.
