Review content:
This was, unquestionably, the worst restaurant experience that I have had in quite some time. The fact that the place was nearly empty at 6:30 p.m. should have been a clue, but I figured that I would give it a shot because it was so close to home (a decision that I immediately regretted). The entire restaurant looked like it had been neglected since the mid-1980s. The wait staff was strangely aloof. I wouldn?t say rude?more like clueless and out of touch. We were given menus that were cracked and falling apart; my wife?s looked like someone had taken a bite out of one of the corners. We were served water in dirty plastic cups that had probably been sitting on the table since the previous summer. The rug in the bathroom was soaking wet, as if there had been a flood of some sort, and the whole place had an odor reminiscent of a retirement home. I would have been willing to overlook all of this had the food been good. But, alas, it was not. The Caesar salads of limp, soggy, brown romaine set the stage for our entrees. The sauces on our pastas were clearly premade and frozen, and the pasta itself was inferior to even the worst TV dinner. While the utter lack of taste in my dish was disconcerting, the horrendously offensive taste of my wife?s dish rendered it inedible to all but a canine palate. The worst part of the experience was the price. For the prices that they charge, this level of food and services is just unacceptable. If you are in Newtown and looking for good Italian cuisine, keep looking, because you won?t find it at Il Sol. Pros: none Cons: did you read my review?
