Review content:
First, I will nurse any car with a tranny question to diagnose from Bayside Queens to these folks, rather than go local.
About three different times (every time I had a need) over 10 years they have done excellent work, either finding a sensor or a mini-rebuild, exactly what was needed, and no more. Last time I saw the tranny out on their bench. Sometimes I am concerned it will be a $1500 replacement and I end up with a bill from $150 to 500 or so. With a solid estimate first.
Trannies are one item that should only be worked on by a shop you really really trust, and Banner has earned my trust.
Now on a replacement tranny on an inexpensive car, to save $ you have the option to consider to "go Corona" (the Shea Stadium shops, what Bloomberg wants to tear down). However if you are trying to FIX a tranny, and want solid honest work, this shop is A-1. Or if you do want a replacement with full peace of mind.
At the very least, make sure you work with a shop whose reputation is stellar. "Trannies are Tricky"
Yes, this review is waxing poetic, but it is my opportunity to thank a great shop in a difficult business.
