Review content:
We spent this past weekend up in Tahoe for a ski trip...mega snow storm had hit (taking 6+hours to get there when it normally takes about 3)...arrived at the Pepper Tree and our 4 wheel drive got stuck in snow right at their entrance. Marika and Lee (managers) and Aaron (their clerk) ,as well as some hotel guests (and, passer-byes!) , all came out to offer guidance and help get us unstuck, successfully. Next, power goes out in Tahoe City (because of storm)...we need food and a glass of wine (of course!)...lots of advice as to where 'may' be open (Marika even offers to open up the breakfast room for us to toast a bagel!) but eventually we settle on grabbing a couple of slices of pizza, from the only place open, and head back to the hotel. But, without wine...Marika (seeing our predicament) gives us a bottle of merlot, with wine glasses, and refuses to add the cost to our bill saying "compliments of the hotel". What's not to like about that!? The hotel is comfortable, adequate, not fancy. The breakfast room is very good~all the usual culprits being represented 'a la continental' (but, with flair). The hairdryer in the bathroom really does need changing out, but, seriously.......great place with amazing staff and service! (bring your own hairdryer, if it bothers you that much!) A mini fridge, mini microwave as well as coffee pot are in the room. Lee and Marika are the most recent mangers at the Pepper Tree and are trying hard to repair the damage they inherited...seems to me that they are doing a grand repair job!
