I'll preface this by saying my apartment has a Medeco lcok. While I don't know much about locks, I know that this is one of the best locks made. It's claimed to be pick and destruction proof. Several years ago, I called some *unnamed* locksmith since I had locked myself out of my apartment. It was past midnight and considered an emergency call. I was quoted $60. When he arrived, he looked at the lock, said he couldn't pick it, and drilled it. He messed up the drilling and broke the lock, essentially. An hour and a half later he had the door open, but the lock and door jam were destroyed. Long story short, that $60 turned into $1,600+ by the time he arrived, destroyed my lock and door, sold and installed new hardware...blah blah blah. Fast forward to a month ago when the exact same thing happened! (OK...I'm bad with keys...) I called Mainline Security whose answering service stated that emergency calls were $250. Yikes, right?! I tried them anyway. Their service guy arrived very quickly and within 10 minutes, picked his way into the exact same type of lock the other guy couldn't! The cost....$250, as expected! Knowing the price before hand, and having it done right the first time, is worth something to me! Highly recommended!!!
