Review content:
We'd been going to this vet for years with several different pets. One of our dogs was sick so I called the office early to try to get an appointment to have him looked at. I called within 5 minutes of the office opening and was told they were booked for the day. I asked if they normally keep a few appointments open for emergencies and the girl said they do. I then asked how they didn't have one of those appointments open since they'd just opened a few minutes ago. She simply said "Oh, it's been hectic, they're already booked, but you can go to AVETS." There was no way they'd received that many emergency appointments within 3-5 minutes. She made it sound as if they did set aside appointments for emergencies, but they'd used them for regular appointments instead. She kept pushing the fact that I could "just go to AVETS." My dog was sick, sick enough for a vet, but not to the point that I needed to run him to an emergency clinic. I called another vet I'd never gone to and they were able to see him. I've since switched all 6 of my pets over to the new vet. They also have a receptionist on duty at all times which helps avoid confusion. It may have been a lack of communication since it was a tech who answered & not the receptionist, but that lack of communication would have cost me about $120 just to walk in the door at AVETS. My dog only needed an antibiotic. My total bill, including meds and a new patient visit was less than $70.
