Review content:
5 Star Rating! Despite my years of good hygiene and regular dental/ cleaning visits 4x/yr, Dr. Halliday told me my recession had reached a point that 2 upper teeth needed the Connective Tissue Graft procedure. She explained the cutting back of the gum, taking a piece off the roof of the mouth and inserting that, bringing the gum back down and stitching it....with only ibuprofen needed in recovery. I consulted w/my regular dentist, Dr.Pearson, who agreed it was time. Holly also said the recession can reach a point where the connective tissue graft cannot be done anymore. I made the appt. and it was about 1 1/2 hours and pain free during and after.Comfortable with soothing music/ headset, sunglasses -Shanin and Dr. H talked quietly and explained what they were doing. My recovery was pain free - some swelling but no pain. I took ibuprofen for a day or two. Holly called the same day to see how I was. The roof of my mouth did not hurt at all - they put a comfortable "band-aid" and the stitches did not bother at all. I used an anti-bacterial rinse 2x a day for 2 weeks. When the 10 stitches were removed that did not hurt. The "dog" tooth #6 that was really bad looks great now and the teeth next to it were also greatly helped by this procedure - I look much better and will have the other #11 done next spring. If you have State of VT dental insurance and are a VSEA member w/supplemental dental this may cost you $0. If you have heard bad stories about Connective Tissue Graft I would suggest you get more current info. I feel all the doctors with Associates in Periodontics are highly skilled, very well educated and extremely talented. I have the greatest respect for my dental care providers and how they treat patients so well ( including Dr. Arlene Pearson) and highly recommend that if you have been advised to have the Connective Tissue Graft don't delay - the result is worth it and it was truly pain free for me.
