Review content:
Middleton Place is on Ashley River Road and is one of the plantations you can easily tour in one day. The orginal house burned in the Civil War but there is a surviving building that is a museum. You can tour it or just tour the grounds. There is an old rice mill (Rice was the main crop in the lowcountry then) and you can walk the beautiful grounds. The grounds are huge and you can easily spend a day just touring them. Lots of wild life and nature (herons, birds, etc.) can be seen just on a normal walk. This is a must see if you have time for it while you are visiting in Charleston.
