Review content:
I tried Toyama for the first and last time in mid October 2008. I came in with a group of about 9 others and we chose to eat at a grill table. The decor is old and and dusty. The restaurant is dark and depressing. Tables were greasy and the condiments were covered in sauces, dust and who knows what else. I'd have walked out but I was a guest of new friends. The food itself was cooked at our table but very slowly. We had to wait 15 minutes for initial service and we were there right after they'd opened and were the only customers in the restaurant. Most of our orders were just plain wrong. We got wrong appetizers, entrees and drinks. The food arrived slowly and there was much delay (20 minutes) in serving time from entree #1 to entree #9). The scallops I had were extremely overcooked and rubbery and the food had so much MSG my tongue became numb. I've never had this problem at any other asian restaurant. I know I have no shellfish allergy., so I assume this was the cause. Service overall just seemed disinterested and put out to have to serve us. The food portions were moderate, yet quite expensive for what we received. Everyone who worked there that day appeared to be in or just out of high school with no adults supervising. Maybe that's due to it being a Sunday but it still seemed strange. I have no idea how this low quality place stays open especially since it is hidden behind a Publix grocery store. I would fully recommend avoiding Toyama. Hope this helps. Pros: no wait Cons: Very dirty, bad food, bad service
