How could it be this difficult to receive accommodations for a disability? This school has been horrible.
I spoke to a former student of Life West whose experience was so terrible after he was in a car accident, he transferred to Palmer in San Jose where he received his accommodations with no trouble and graduated without a hitch in a supportive environment. He called Life West, after his accident, an absolute nightmare. In addition to that, I spoke with my girlfriend Jeannie whose husband was partially disabled and attended Palmer Chiropractic and she was just appalled by our experience with Life West. She stated her husband never had to go through at Palmer what we have at Life West.
This is not an isolated situation. The gross mismanagement of people with disabilities has been going for some time at Life West. And from my personal experiences meeting with Dr. Clum, Ferguson, and Pino, I feel this is definitely an environment caused by the school's leadership, or lack thereof. They haven't even got an organized system down. It's going on two months and still have not heard back about taking a certain test. Ignored, ignored, ignored. It seems they'd rather disabled students went away.
Dr. Clum has been cruel, belittling the actual medical condition. Dean Ferguson would not even answer the initial email asking for accommodations. And the 504 coordinator for Palmer in San Jose also handles *two* other schools. Lori Pino, the 504 coordinator for Life West only handles one school, which begs the question, what the heck does she do all day? Why can a coordinator for 3 schools get things done in a timely manner while a coordinator for 1 school can take months?
In addition, Hayward is absolutely disgusting. Go to Palmer in San Jose where you won't worry about walking to your car at night.
