I have trusted the health of my dog to the vets at Banfield for a couple of years now. While they are great at keeping files and vaccinated your promptly though too often I am sad to say that their vets are badly trained and don't seem to know enough to deserve the title. After multiple visits to different Banfield Hospitals, the vets stuck to a diagnose which just didn't seem right. Over and over they diagnosed my dog as having food allergies and pushed prescription food on us. I did what they suggested; I had several exams done... Urine test, blood test, x-rays, ultrasounds, etc. All was check and after suggesting ridiculous possibilities they would go back to allergies. My dog got worst and I finally gave up on Banfield... TOO LATE. I took him to a different vet who was amazed my dog was not in more pain than he was showing as he had cancer in his intestine which at that point was already blocking passage of any waste. Due to the lateness of the diagnoses nothing could be done to give him better chances to live and I had to make the decision to put him down the same day I found out he had cancer. It is painful to talk about this but I need to let everyone know to watch out for Banfield. As if this is not enough to suspect them, I called them after my dog passed away and they informed me that I still have to pay for the membership until it runs out even though he is no longer alive!!!!! Looking back I can think of other Banfield practices that should have raised a red flag... One of them being that they did not want to give me the image of the x-rays or ultrasound when it was taken. I was told it is Banfield property and they don't have to give me a copy of the image. Yet, the vet that correctly diagnosed the issue handed me an x-ray promptly, without me even asking for it. I know from experience that it is hard to find a good vet. Banfield is not the only one in my black list. But keep trying! Consider clinics that use both traditional and holistic practices such as the Animal Wellness Center in Bellevue, WA.
