Review content:
Don's Lighthouse has been on the corner of Lake Ave. and the shoreway for my entire life. I started going there when I had friends who worked there, and though we've all moved on in life, we usually come back several times a year.
I've never had a bad meal at Don's, and sometimes I've had an amazing meal at Don's. It's a great place to take a guest when you've no idea where else to go. A beautiful, large, open dining room, and a nice cozy bar with dark wood booths off the dining room. The service is always excellent. The prices reflect a fine dining experience, so keep that in mind. The dress varies from casual at lunch and in the bar, to couples dressed to the nines and out for a night on the town. I wouldn't wear jeans in the dining room, but I wouldn't think twice about wearing them in the bar area.
Like I said, the food varies from good to great, depending on who is cooking. So it can be hit or miss if you're looking for spectacular every time.
The one thing I've never understood: the valet parking service. The parking lot is right in front of the restaurant. I guess some people like this type of service - I just don't get it.
