We went to Ici this week with a few friends. We were the only customers in the restaurant at 9:20pm. (that should be a sign already) Waitress told us that the owners are in Franc...

Many Good Experiences 6/24/2005

I have eaten at ici about 7 times and the food is always excellent. My favorite thing about this restaurant is that it uses fresh, local, seasonal, organic produce, meat and wine. The ambience is cozy and charming and the service attentive and warm. They have the best outdoor seating in Brooklyn, and are now serving amazing summer cocktails. Pros: Organic, Price, Value more

Simplicity 5/31/2005

We keep going back to ici for a year now, and still love it. The food is amazing for the price. Where do you find in Brooklyn organic food at this price. Entrees average $17 $18 and Appetizers $8. Natural wine list, elegant dining room & gorgeous garden. Everything is so simple and to the point. No chichi. Just quality & simplicity. I wish there were more restaurant like this one. Pros: Organic, Value Cons: Monday Closed, Closes Early more

Uh, did I miss something here? 5/27/2005

THe restaurant and staff are great, do not get me wrong. I wanted to like this place, I really did. But whatever expectations I had for the food, they were not met. It was as if everything that came out was missing something, or ""not quite there enough"" to be fabulous. My fellow diners with me concurred. It's not the worst place, believe me, it's a gorgeous place, but I'm not going to go there for the food. Wine and atmosphere, sure, but the price on the underwhelming food is not justifiable. I'd be a fool for paying what we did again for what we received. Live and learn. Pros: atmosphere, staff, wine list Cons: underwhelming food, overpriced prices more

Consistent and Outstanding 5/24/2005

We go to this restaurant at least once a week - the food is always consistently excellent, unique, tasty. The menu changes to offer the best dishes and the specials are amazing. Great spot for brunch - their garden is quiet and peaceful, the best croissants in the New York area by far. It gets loud on the weekend nights inside since the restaurant is small and popular - definitely worth going for any meal. Great service, relaxed ambiance. Pros: garden, good service, fresh food more

wow, this was really nice 2/25/2005

went last saturday night with my husband. His pork shoulder with grits was so tender and delicate. I got a beautiful portion of wild pike with cabbage and carrots in a mustard horseradish broth that was truly amazing for $19. The waitress was so knowledgeable and nice. We spent $122 (2 appetizers, entrees, bottle of wine and two more glasses of wine) for a truly great meal. Really unexpensive for organic food. Pros: nice waitress, underpriced food, exiting food more

wow, this really sucked 2/19/2005

went last night with my husband. His pork shoulder with grits was swimming in fat, not gravy. I got a tiny portion on pike that was missing some items mentioned on the menu for a whopping $19. After we We sent both back to be corrected, our waitress for terse and rude. We spent $122 (2 appetizers, entrees, bottle of wine and two more glasses of wine) for a truly forgettable meal. oh, and the napkins were wet. save your money. Cons: rude waitress, overpriced food, unexciting food more

Is this a joke? 2/15/2005

My husband and I ate here on Valentine's Day. The first course was maybe half of a sliced carrot with a tbsp of pesto sauce. I thought the waitress was kidding. I went with it, though, because I like carrots and I'm a pretty healthy eater. The next course was a salad that consisted just of greens with a very salty truffle dressing. My husband's vegetarian pasta was dry and consisted of pine nuts, wilted raddichio (sp?) and olive oil. We didn't stick around for the dessert even though it was included. We felt like we were on a Valentine's Day assembly line. It was such an unimaginative, disappointing, thoughtless four-course meal. Not worth the $55 per person in product alone--definitely won't go back because if this is what they choose to serve you on a ""special"" night, I don't want to see what you get on an ordinary one. Pros: Decoration beautiful, waitress nice, organic food? Cons: lots of kids, waitress very rushed, not well prepared more

The Best Restaurant in Fort Greene 9/16/2004

There are a lot of restaurant in Fort Greene, but this new one is so good ! They really get it ! Unexpensive, delicious & organic food in a great setting. The dining room is so cute ! The all-female staff is professional & friendly. Their twist on traditionnal bistro fare really works, try the pumpkin seeds crusted monkfish or the sea scallops with fresh corn. Pros: organic food, manhattan quality, brooklyn prices more

Amazing Food ! ! 9/10/2004

Frank Bruni was right ! The quality of the food is just unbelievable ! They obviously use prime organic ingredients and know how to cook them. I Had breakfast there by myself last week (they have free internet connection) and loved the simple 3' egg. Went back last night with some friends in the wine business and had a blast again. My friend loved the unexpensive wine selection, the monkfish and the scallops are to die for ! I can't wait to go back but will make a reservation next time. I have a feeling it will soon be difficult to get a reservation Pros: friendly waitstaff, value, organic food more

Great brunch 7/8/2004

ici is a great addition to the neighborhood. I have yet to visit for dinner, but had a lovely brunch there recently - the french toast is to DIE for. The only slightly negative comment I have is that my husband ordered a sandwich that was very tasty but extremely small portion-wise. The service is outstanding, especially compared with other places on DeKalb Ave. I'll be back! Pros: Great service, Great quality food, Lovely Garden more

A REAL RESTAURANT ! 7/6/2004

Went there the other day with some friends and had a great time. The food is real and good, they use mostly organic ingredients so they don't need to cover up the lack of original taste with some fancy preparation. They have a beautiful garden and very elegant interior. Service was smooth and relax. A great addition to Dekalb Avenue. And they are open for breakfast too ! Pros: unknown, kids friendly, elegant more
