As a local I'll stop into this good enough sushi restaurant when I'm hungry for sushi and don't want to make a 15-min drive to Nobu. I've been eating here for 20 years, and the sushi has gone downhill. (BTW, Nobu isn't what it used to be either.) The rolls were once tightly wound and well made, but now they are big and loosely made and fall apart upon first bite. The chefs are no longer insulted when you order an American sushi roll like spider or dragon. Still tasty, if you ask the chef what's the freshest, you'll get great sashimi. Otherwise, don't order the fish if it's not the freshest. The tempura (ordered by my spouse) is no longer crisp and light as it once was long ago. Over the years they've been very accommodating for large groups, families with kids, couples, solos, you name it. The staff are friendly as always but apparently they still are surprised to see non-white patrons after all these years. For a Malibu restaurant, it has no view except of the parking lot. The TV is always on and turned to a sports channel during dinnertime. Great neighborhood restaurant if you're in the 'Bu, but I wouldn't drive farther than 5 min to it.
Pros: Service is fast, friendly. Parking is free, available
Cons: Sushi rolls are loose and fall apart. TV is always on.
