Here's a place you won't find in any Big City. This local restaurant is located in an old mining town just north of Athens. It's in one of the old houses that were built to house workers during the coal boom. The food, here, however, is first rate. The restaurant is owned by the chef, Scott and you will see him working in the kitchen when you enter the front door. This is a special place to bring your out- of-town guests who might think that Athens has nothing more to offer than the Sports Bars and Pizza scene on Court Street. Entrees here include Apricot Pistachio stuffed breast of Chicken with sauteed leeks for $14 and Pan seared Atlantic Salmon with saffron braised fennel and french green lentils for $16. I, personally, have sampled the artichoke mushroom and pine nut crepes with fiddlehead ferns and sherry cream ($12) and can tell you that they are delicious! Salads are priced separately from the entrees and if you want wine or beer to accompany your meal you'll need to bring it with you! Dessert is not to be missed with always something wonderful to try. Restaurant is open Tues-Sat from 5pm to 9pm. Parking is free. You might want to make a reservation if your planning on a Friday or Saturday night. I bet you'll impress your out of town guests!
