The food here is nasty diner food that you could buy in the frozen foods section of your grocery store, and WAY overpriced. Went there for drinks and appetizers. DO NOT order the calamari. It's obviously processed calamari meat molded into pieces, because all were uniform and not actual tentacles or body pieces (and they charge something like $13 for this crap). Coconut prawns were way too sweet. The only thing good was the tiny bowl of coleslaw that came with the prawns. \r \r Chef Robert Irvine from Restaurant Impossible would be very upset, disgusted and disappointed.\r \r If you want to eat right on the beach, Paradise Beach Grille down the street is much better. more

Great Fish and good Bloody Marys, but expect to pay for the view. The portions seem small for the price, but the Fish is coated with a nice light breading and is fresh. Try the clam chowder! more

Capitola is a great beach town. The surfing is great and who doesn't love Surfing Santa the day after Thanksgiving. Zelda's on the Beach has a great location. There are a few other restaurants that also are mentioned in other reviews. Zelda's food is good. I had the fish and chips. They are easily the best fish and chips i've had. They are not greasy or covered with batter but are lightly crusted. The french fries were excellent, very crispy. My son had a salmon filet. The price is a little high. The view balances out the high price. more

That is a rare commodity - a restaurant with outside seating on the beach that allows dogs. There are 3 or 4 tables along the fence that let you keep your pet next to you. This is great if you want to walk your dog and eat in the same outing! more

My friend and I dined at Zelda's on a Thursday night in October. We were very surprised to find a whole fresh Maine Lobster at the special price of $9.00. My friend who has eaten lobster at many fine restaurants said it was very fresh and sweet tasting. She liked it very much. I decided to try lobster for the first time since it was offered at this bargain price. I decided that I prefer crab to lobster even though the lobster that was served was very good. more

Rented a beach house in Capitola for a week and three of us went to Zelda's three times during the week for their fish tacos on the lunch menu. They are the best ever and are made with grilled Mahi Mahi. Not greasy like some. The wonderful side salad (cabbage) isn't the creamy stuff you normally get but tastes light with a touch of peanut oil. Highly recommmend this dish and the restaurant with it's seaside ambiance. more

The fish was fresh, a pretty good local jazz group playing and it is right on the beach. The sides are not much, our fish was spot on fresh and good. more

Great Service and Food 3/6/2010

My wife and I had lunch at Zelda's on the Beach at noon on Friday March the 5th. We had a cute young server who is going to college fron Seattle area. We shared a order of popcorn shrimp and it was too much for the both of us to eat. The service was friendly and attentive, we would recomend it. Mardy Pros: We Got great service and food! more

Avoid 8/21/2007

On Monday myself & my husband went to Zeldas for lunch. We were seated next to the bins which stunk, we couldn't move because there wasn't any more seats available under the umbrellas (it was a hot day). We ordered fish & chips which came in a small basket, the chips were ok but the fish was horrible. With our order we got a 7up & a Corona, this all came to $36 .. so that's 2 ""small"" baskets of fish & chips, a Corona & a 7 up for $36. Not only were we NOT impressed with the food but the waitresses were rude. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Pros: Outdoors along the beach Cons: Lack of umbrellas, rude staff more
