Beautiful atmosphere 3/25/2006

Zaytinya is one of Jose Andres's restaurants which serves mezze, small plates of Greek/Middle Eastern food. The restaurant itself is stunning, with high ceilings, lots of glass, and white walls accented with candles. The bar is ultra-chic, but often very crowded, particularly when there is a long wait for a table. The food is good, and there are some definite must-haves, such as the braised lamb shank. Definitely a great place if you want to go to see and be seen, while enjoying a good meal. more

Looks wonderful, food could be better 12/12/2005

The middle eastern restaurant itself looks gorgeous, and everything they serve looks gorgeous, but even I am middle eastern, and some of their cuisine is just not understandable. It's to wierd, they need to make it simpler and they need to make it taste better. Dont get me wrong, there a several really good plates, but some of them just taste really wierd (and I'm not biased b/c i have been eating middle eastern food my whole life). Its good to try out, not super expensive, but I've been there twice and dont really feel an urge to go back. They do however have great customer service, if anthing goes wrong they do what they can to make it right (our breadbasket napkin caught on fire from the candle on the table and it was scary, but we got a free meal) more

Great Greek Food, Eclectic atmosphere 9/10/2005

If you want to hang out with the "sheeshee-poopoo" of DC, this is the spot for you. The food is great, the drinks are fabulous, and the staff are pretty cool too. They have a great menu and the food is prepared very well. It is a beautiful restaurant but if you want a seat, you better get there early and be prepared to pay for parking. The prices are not really outrageous either, but if you start drinking, that tab will grow. Great place to eat if you are visiting DC since it is near the MCI center and many other sights. more
