Last year when we went searching for a Halloween costume for my daughter, we decided to check out the Disney Store.
Upon entering the store, my daughter ran from costume to costume saying "Wow look at this" and "Ooh mom, isn't this pretty?!". After a few minutes of looking over all the beautiful costumes, my daughter finally had her heart set on a Cinderella costume. I'll admit, it was beautiful. So I thought, what the heck? Let's take a look at it. Of course being a mom, the first thing I looked at was the price tag. And that's when I nearly fainted. Clutching my chest at what seemed to be a small heart attack I finally managed to squeak out "Honey, this is just too much." The costume was a whopping $85!!!
After quelling all of the "But PLEASE mom"s we found another costume for about $30. That's when I decided to take a look and see if I could find a costume in her size. And this is when I experienced my complete and utter confusion (and maybe even anger). What kind of children does Disney make these costumes for? None of the costumes fit my daughter. None. They were all way too tight. The size that my daughter normally wears in her every day clothes, was about three sizes smaller here. I just didn't get it. My daughter is by no means overweight, nor is she stick skinny. This was ridiculous.
We finally left the Disney store after I gently explained to my daughter that the costumes here just weren't going to work and we found another store where the costumed DID fit her.
