Best

best chinese food I have ever tasted! I love that you can watch the chefs cook, and they even put on a noodle show on thursdays. Pros: null Cons: null

Worst

Sometimes they demonstrate the noddle making, and you can see them preparing your food as they have an open kitchen. Other that home made noddle, I do not see anything else speci...

One of the best in the Chicagoland area 7/7/2005

I agree with the other reviewer who said that Yu's is good, but not THAT great. When in Chicago, I always dine at Yu's and take guests there as well. I always order the Peking Noodle Platter (what Yu's is known for). It's pretty consistent. I'd say that the traditional Chinese dishes are better--but unfortunately you have to be able to read Chinese. So, ask your server to help you choose. I particularly like the 8 Treasures Tofu dish on the Chinese menu. From the regular menue, I also like the General Tso's Chicken and Sizzling Rice Soup. But to tell you the truth, I think "Tasty Cuisine Chinese Restaurant" located on the SE corner of on Elmhurst and Algonquin is better than Yu's. They have one dish that is Fried Chicken stuffed with shrimp. It's out of this world--it is something like $34, but worth the once-in-a-lifetime try. Pros: food, view of kitchen Cons: long lines more

Not too bad for Yu 3/10/2003

This place is usually very busy so expect to wait a little. The set-up is fine and having the kitchen exposed through a window is a nice touch. It makes you feel like your watching an episode of the Iron Chef. My dish was above average and just spicy enough, not over the top. My date and I also enjoyed a stiff singapore sling on the side which was rather tasty. I would drop in again... Pros: Atmosphere, Food / Drinks Cons: Lengthy Wait more

Good but not THAT good! 1/29/2003

I stopped in on a saturday night for dinner because I drive by it frequently and happened to read all of the wonderful ratings about it. Maybe I was expecting too much but I left dissappointed. I had Schezwan Beef (don't eat the peppers!!!), the dish was bland & the beef was tough and of sub-par quality. My date had Garlic Chicken which really had no taste and almost no chicken. Dinner plus appetizer tray plus 2 drinks = $47... also, the tea was literally water! Maybe I hit a bad day, I may try it once more. Pros: Great Selection, Clean, Nice Decor Cons: Expensive, Bland more

Worth the Wait! 1/22/2003

Food is consistently good, but you have to be careful with some of the hotter dishes! Best Chinese restaurant in the NW Suburbs. Pros: Reasonable prices, Consistent food Cons: Often a wait more

Yuck! 1/20/2003

I've tried this place three times after reading its great reviews. Maybe I'm making the wrong choices, but I continue to get these incredibly greasy meals. It isn't that the food isn't quality (for example: the meat isn't scary at all) it just doesn't taste good, or like much at all. Pros: window to kitchen Cons: taste of food more

Excellent Food and Atmosphere!! 8/9/2002

A must try for their famous Noodle Platter Dish. The noodles are freshly made and the taste of all the food are very consistent. The amount of food you get for the price is awesome. I have recommended Yu's to many friends and they say the same as well. If your looking for a classy and comfortable place to eat good food, come to Yu's Mandarin. Ever wonder how they make noodles? On the weekends, they have a guy making the noodles from scratch. Check it out!! Pros: Busy 7 days a week, Inexpensive, Great Food & Service Cons: Need more parking more
