This place had good food with a European and Mexican influence and unique items. I love their chicken salad made with grapes and almonds then went back and enjoyed their shrimp chipotle. During lunch hour it is very busy, so I would probably suggest going later if you are there around high season for the island. Friendly, small place feel for a casual place. I stop at yummies coffee shack to relax and read a book calmly. The Mexican waitress serves me and later makes too much conversation. I just wanted peace and quiet. The awful waitress talks bad of her boss and the way she will treat her. I didn't like whenever she said her boss doesn?t let her eat or have breaks. I think the owner looks like a nice woman. Please don't make conversations with this Mexican waitress called Martha because she will not let you eat or relax. I went 4 years ago to yummies and I think the other waitresses were so kind and they would make you feel like home. Pros: thumbs down Cons: thumbs down more

As opposed to what I see in earlier reviews, my family (including grandparents and our kids) stopped in ( June 19-21) and were charmed by the place. The owner herself was working tables and pouring coffee. The wait staff were friendly albeit taxed by the number of customers (which might give a clue as to the popularity of the place with the locals). Whole wheat apple blueberry pancakes were a favorite with our group. Plenty of choices on the menu for my taste. Everything we tried was good and much better than a commecial chain in quality. I highly recommend the Bellagios ""sipping chocolate"". Its a hot chocolate on ""roids"". For this guy and his family from the Ohio area, this was a delightful ""find"". We went there two mornings out of the three that we were on the island. The food is okay, but the service is the worst. I ate there about four years ago and remembered that it had several menu choices, all of which were good. This time my wife and I sat down for ten minutes without anyone acknowledging our existence. Both waitresses came close to our table but they never said anything to us. I walked to the register to ask for service and a waitress told me that she would be over there after she took care of someone else first, she pointed to another table as if to say she was too busy to even answer my question. As she walked away she said, very frustrated, ""Wait your turn!"". My wife and I walked out and went back to our hotel for breakfast. South Padre Island is a great place to visit, just avoid the temptation of that quaint little bistro called Yummies. Cons: Bad service more

I called for information about Mother's Day breakfast at 9:30am on 05-08-08. The person that answered the phone could not have been less interested in helping me. I can tell from the phone demeanor that the ""in person"" service is probably equally disinterested. I don't think I will waste my time trying the place. more

Way too expenive for breakfast. Just do not bother. I tried it more than once. You wait too long!!!!! more
