Not the same as it used to be. 6/18/2010

We have been coming to Youngs for several years now, about every 6 months or so. The last couple of years, it just seems like it has'nt been the same. Not sure if it's the cook who's making our meals, but the food is usually over cooked. The last time we were there the cashier girl was not very friendly, was not very attentive. The menu is outdated as to what is written up on the board. We did'nt know if they had kid's meals or not. I'm sad to say that we probably won't come back, it's just not the same as it used to be, and before we get a bad taste in our mouth about Youngs. It used to be such a wonderful place to eat, the owner was always there, and the service was fantastic, and the cook just shined. I remember the cashier from many years ago would say ""Thankyou so much"". Ahhh, the memories we will cherish. Not sure if they have a new owner or not now... Pros: There are more menu options. Cons: The food is not what it used to be... more

Very good teriyaki 6/1/2010

This place is a close second to Love Love's on S Liberty. I had Chicken and Yakisoba noodles ($7.50). The portions were VERY large. I had to get a box and take what I couldn't consume away with me. The counter person was courteous, if somewhat reserved. The place was clean but rather dark. I stopped by about 12:30PM expecting it to be slammed, but there were more empty tables than full. Given what a great place this is, I was rather surprised by this. If you're downtown and have a Yen (Sometimes I just can't help it ;-D) for Teriyaki, you should try Young's Pros: Top quality and huge protions more

Best fresh teriaki anywhere! Spectacular customer service. The owners are wonderful! 3/31/2007

Located at 360 High Street, Salem you will find one of the most fantastic restaurants I have visited in a long time. A quaint wonderful location, set off the main street with plenty of seating, from the outside of the restaurant, you may view people eating at outside tables that are topped with green canopies. The owners Paul and Young are very pleasant and welcoming. Paul is usually in the front of the restaurant serving food and greeting guests. Several regular diners visit the restaurant, so it is not unusual to hear casual conversation between the owners and their customers. They treat their guests as friends and the outstanding customer service is reflected as their number one priority. The food is to die for! They have the most mouth watering teriyaki with Young?s' Mom's own secret teriyaki sauce recipe. Their is a large variety of foods on the menu, including beautiful chicken teriyaki salads, Yakisoba Noodles with fresh sauteed veggies, home made soups and appetizers. What makes this restaurant special is that the owners have really sunk their heart and souls into their business. The place is attractively decorated with deep red walls, comfortable and roomy seating, contemporary lighting and pleasant music. It's conveniently located in central downtown Salem, right across the street from the mall. Open Monday-Saturday at 10am. They serve lunch and dinner until they have taken care of the last customer, typically about 8 pm. Call them at (503) 566-6860 for more information. You can tell them Jamie sent you! more
