Young Rembrandts has infiltrated school and park districts all over Western Illinois. They offer drawing classes to school-age children. The lessons they use are very generic and do not allow for much creativity on the part of the students. Artwork is completed in a step by step routine in which every child draws the same work. A staff member will also be drawing it on the board or white board. They monitor each students progress to keep them on track. They use markers or colored pencils to fill in the drawing. It is very organized and is good to get a basic concept of space and shapes. However, it offers few options to the students to allow them to explore their own ideas.
