Go for Santa 11/20/2006

This is the second year that we have taken the girls to see Santa at Yorktown Mall. My girlfriend suggested it last year and we all went together, this year it was just my sister and I with the girls. Santa gets to this mall earlier than other malls, he looks so real and he is one of the nicest Santa's I've ever seen. We've been really lucky with the pictures we've taken here too, they have come out really well. They also have a larger size train for the kids to ride that is minimal in cost. The mall itself is not really overwhelming, it's a nice size and has a lot of different stores to check out, along with more on the outside. http://www.yorktownshoppingcenter.com more

Yorktown Shopping Center 2/27/2006

Yorktown Mall has a pretty decent selection of boutiques and department stores, but it can't really compare to its big sister, the mall at Schaumburg. However, if you live in the area and need to get to a Gap or Carson's, this will more than work. The mall is very clean and has plenty of seats around when you get tired of shopping. The food court has an impressive selection of options, including one of my favorite fast-food options, Pegasus (a Greek restaurant). Parking is never a problem, but some recent work they've been doing in the parking lot has created some strange traffic patterns. more

Shopping 2/20/2006

I think this is a great mall, despite it's weird layout. Its never really too crowded and there's lots of great stores in this mall, especially Von Maur, which is hard to find in the Chicago land area. You can easily spend a good few hours just shopping around in the various stores. And the food court here is one of the best ones I have seen in any mall. Perfect place to spend a day shopping. more

Not a great place to browse 1/12/2006

But it has some good stores, including a Carson's Furniture Gallery in a strip mall. The main Carson's doesn’t have the best selection of stuff, but it is conveniently located to just pop in if you really need something. There is also a good Von Maur here, as well as an Aerosoles, Naturalizer, and Victoria Secret (though if you want to go to Victoria Secret, you might as well go down Butterfield a little further and go to the bigger store at Oak Brook). The food court has a wide selection given how small the mall is. If you really want to shop, I recommend going to Oak Brook. More high end stores, but they have everything and you can really browse. more

Odd layout and fair selection of stores 12/29/2005

The mall has kind of a weird Z shape that makes it hard to hit all the stores you want to in one fail swoop. The food court is mediocre (but what mall food court isn't?), with not many eateries to choose from. They have a lot of good stores, like the Gap, Waldenbooks, Ann Taylor Loft, Carsons, etc., but I feel they lack children's stores. I'd say it's worth a trip to kill some time on an especially cold or hot day, but if you're looking for serious shopping, there are better options. more
