Finding a new Nueroligst 9/8/2011

I actually thought my doctor was all right. He seemed knowledgeable and experienced. I didn't feel like he listened to what I was saying or explained things to me. It was just here's your medicine see you next time. The nurse was friendly but never sent prescriptions in on time, or returned phone calls. I waited for medicine for a week and I would call everyday 3 times a day and nobody would ever call me back. Unacceptable!! This last time though has really got to me and I found a new neurologist so hopefully I will have a different experience. Don't waste your time or patience here more

The most arrogant incompassionate man EVER! 5/31/2011

Dr. Perkins treated a hospitalized member of my family with a neurological problem not too long ago. His lack of compassion for my family member was unacceptable. Once diagnosed, instead of coming up with viable treatment options (for which there were several) for my family member, his plan was to do absolutely nothing! He was hostile and arrogant with our family on a daily basis as he made rounds. He was unwilling to answer questions about our loved one's health and future prognosis without snide sarcastic responses. His unprofessionalism was appalling and honestly, had me in tears. For someone who claims to read his Bible and incorporate his faith into his medical practice, he did not exhibit an ounce of true compassion or Christian love. Ultimately, I had to go to hospital administration, report his behavior and get my loved one transferred out from under his care in order to get the care that was needed. Thank goodness most of the other doctors at Raleigh Neurology are not only knowledgeable, but kind, compassionate and caring. I will refuse any further interactions with Dr. Perkins in the future and suggest that he be avoided. more

On your own 7/27/2010

If you need some to just look at a neurology problem, then OK. If you are interested in getting a good reason/diagnosis for the problem or what are you options for the future...not going to happen here. Once the $290 exam fee is paid you need to come back for a second $290 (minus your health insurance coverage) for a short ""consult"" on what to do next. As a doctor myself I find it amazing that the core responsibility has been upcharged and minimized to a pure cash transaction. Not to be superseded is that the implication that this is a group of neurologists is an illusion. They share staff and logistics, not the work. Meaning if one doctor makes a mistake...the others don't pick up the ball but rather have a PR person try to ""smooth"" things over. A core reason for escalating health care costs? Pros: you get to see someone Cons: No accountability or follow through more
