Absolutely Incredible! 3/19/2012

This store beats anywhere in San Antonio when it comes to variety and friendliness of staff! I entered and found the most incredible selection! Almost every variety of fiber, combined with exceptional organization to find anything you could possibly want! I'm pretty sure they have the entire line of kureyon lol. they care a decent selection of spinning fibers here as well, along with many tools for both knitting and crochet, and even a few items for felting. The store displays a few different items made with some of their specialty yarns and man they are gorgeous! They even offer learning classes here, but for do it yourselfers, they have a large, and i mean LARGE selection of reading materials located towards the front of the store. I was so impressed with the store itself and the friendliness of the very knowledgeable staff, even though this is a decent distance from where i live, i will definitely be going back. People if yarn is something you love, you NEED to come here, you will not be disappointed! more

What is that? Answer to my needs... 9/11/2010

Sitting in the parking lot waiting for my boyfriend to finish his shopping at the harware store.. My eyes wandered left, right, up, down all around, and then the sign caught my eyes.. Yarnivoure... what a unique name.. I wonder what it is.. what do they do there? HMMM if they knit or crochet.. then maybe... maybe... some one there can take my torn up sweater I got for x-mas and re-link the yarn... hmmm I wonder... Well he is still in the hardware store.. Out I go to find out. So I meet the lady at the counter, and I asked does anyone here crochet or knit? Why of course... I explained to her my torn sweater.. she very kindly said she would take a stab at it.. So I run home and bring the sweater back to her. HALLELLUHIA!!!! Yeap.. They figure out the exact knitting cable stich.. VOILA!! Can't even tell it was ever damaged. I knew they could do it.\r \r They are not a repair shop, but they helped me out anyways!! They specialize in giving lessons, and maybe I should take them up on that. It would not hurt to learn some new talent, especially since my daughter plans to attend college in NY... I surely could knit her something for the cold weather.\r \r I was so pleased with the help they gave me. Their store is clean. Their store has a very peaceful aura. Nice area with couches were one can sit and knit and chat with the others as each works on their projects.. Yes I will have to look into this new hobby. They have special yarns.. not just the normal stuff you would find in a sewing center. I just found a new playground. I will be back. Thank you much Tammy, even though it is hotter than heck still I just might put on my sweater and wear it!!! I am so happy!! more

Wonderful staff, great selection 1/17/2008

Melanie and her staff (Julia! Wendy!) are great with beginners and experienced alike. They can help with spur of the moment questions (like how to tell if the wool is feltable) and teach great classes. I've been knitting for 40 years and I've learned more from them in the last year because of their knowledge and willingness to talk; they don't just sell you the yarn, they help you understand how to use it. Melanie keeps a great inventory of good yarn at competitve prices and will order something if you need it. I'm really pleased we now have a specialy yarn and wool store in north San Antonio.. Pros: knit club, staff, selection, prices more

BEST yarn store ever! 11/23/2007

Coming to Yarnivore is like stopping by to visit good friends -- who just happen to be knitting experts! I always feel they're glad to see me and happy to help me with whatever little problem I'm stuck on at any given time. If I have an idea for a new project, they are right there to help me find the right pattern or choose the perfect yarn. The atmosphere is attractive, low key and utterly comfortable. The people are wonderful. The advice is perfect. I LOVE this store! more

Yarn and more! 8/4/2007

Yarnivore is an outstanding local yarn shop. The selection is wonderful, the classes well worth the time, and the staff is friendly and helpful. I have been housebound due to surgery and Melanie has made my husband very comfortable when I send him over there to pick up what I need for my projects. Her help and welcoming attitude make shopping there a unique and pleasant experience. Whether you are new to the world of yarn (as I am) or you are an old pro, you will love this store and the people.\r \r Stop by and give it a look--you won't be disappointed with the merchandise or the customer service!!! Pros: Wonderful people, wonderful product. more

Fun with fibers 8/2/2007

I take my mother and daughter to this store all the time. They are both avid knitters, weavers and spinners and continually rave about the quality of fibers available a Yarnivore. The customer service is also fantastic, my mother is legally blind and the people there are always willing to take the time to help my mom find what she wants and are experts on the subject matter willing and able to go into detail on almost anything one could ask about yarns, fibers, threads and such. The atmosphere of the store is clean, relaxed and comfortable. If like me you are a non-knitting guy taking family there you can enjoy the very comfortable couches. There are often people knitting in the store too who are quite welcoming and fun to talk with. In all a very welcoming place with excellent quality in materials and people. Pros: Quality people and supplies Cons: I wish the store were bigger more

Great new hip yarn store! 8/2/2007

I love this store. The selection of yarn and fiber is great and the staff is super friendly and always willing to spend time with you. They can help you select great yarns for your project and translate patterns for yarns of different gagues. Their excitement about their products is contagious and you can always find something exciting to work with there. They also carry an excellent selection of fiber and spindles and spinning wheels for people who want to spin their own yarn. The class offerings are very thorough and vary from month to month so you can always learn a new skill. The staff is patient and is always available to help the newest knitter (from kids to adults) to the most advanced who gets stuck on a project. Friday night knit club is also a lot of fun. The atmosphere is always inviting and they always welcome you to come and ""sit and knit"" with them. They are as enthusiastic about a beginner's finished scarf as they are an advanced piece of lace. I highly recommend giving them a try. Pros: Great ambience, friendly place to sit and knit, excellent service, ample parking more
