Yarmouth Management is by far the worst management company in the DC area. We thought it was going to be a great experience considering they did an amazing job getting the place we wanted...but as soon as we got in it’s been a complete nightmare the entire time! The place wasn’t even cleaned at all when we moved in, keep in mind we paid for December and didn’t move in until the last weekend of the month so they had a solid 2 months to clean up. Since then we’ve had issues with them communicating with the landlord then to us. We pay a considerable amount for rent and we’re told we wouldn’t have to deal with the landlord. That was a lie, as she lives 5 houses down (we were told she lives in the district, but not our neighborhood). The landlord has already broken the lease 3 times by showing up unannounced and without the 48 hr notice per our lease. Dian who runs the maintenance side for Yarmouth could care less when it comes to any issues with the property. He never follows through with appointments, never responds to issues in a timely manner (took him 4 months to get back to us with major issues that were supposed to be fixed before we even moved in), he’s dropped the ball every single time he’s needed. There is a huge breakdown in communication especially when giving us notices and most of the time the maintenance vendors never even show. Yarmouth has let the landlord call the shots and she has been making appointments and sending people over to our place without notice and it’s totally unprofessional and quite annoying. Not one thing on our list of issues has been settled and it’s been over 8 months. The landlord also creeps by our place on occasion to “check up” yet we’ve never even met her. When communicated with Yarmouth about this they said “well, she’s grown up in that house so she has an emotional connection with it, but we’ll let her know.” .. with that! Don’t rent your house then lady! For the amount of money we pay, we should only deal with the management company because that’s what it says in the lease. But unfortunately the management company is just as bad as the landlord. These are just some of the issues we’re having so we are wanting to break our lease so we don’t have to deal with these unprofessional, unreliable, and unpredictable people. Would NEVER recommend Yarmouth Management!
