Good place for the do it yourselfer 9/20/2005

Having been to Home Depot and not happy we now stick with Yardbirds. Yardbirds store is laid out in a way that makes sense and the product needed is easy to find. If you can't find it or just need help we find the staff easy to find and friendly. Their plant department has a good selection. The paint department carries Ralph Lauren and also has a good selection of products. We have found the prices to be comparable to Home Depot and a much nicer place to shop more

I have done extensive work on our house. I frequent yardbirds, home depot and Friedmans. I would say easily the best service and knowledgable help is found at Friedmans. Yardbirds does a pretty good job at wanting to help most of the time. I have found couple of people at yardbirds that have been down right rude and non helpful. I understand they probably had a long day, but that just means I didn't get help. Prices at Home Depot usually blow ybs and freidmans out of the water. Home Depot by far is the least customer friendly. Even the experts there seem to be annoyed by questions. more
