Tons of beer and great food 7/11/2007

Yard House is a great lo-key place that serves ton of great beer and has terrific food. I go there with my family often and take advantage of their 1/2 proce appetizers Mon-Fri from 4-6 pm. It can get very busy on weekends so plan accordingly. Pros: 1/2 price appetizers Cons: spotty service more

Beer, Beer, Beer 10/31/2006

Awesome beer selection, although too much if you dont like choices. the food here is upscale bar food with some comfort foods like chicken potpie thrown in. burgers are delicious as are most of the appetizers. had the california roll last night, not a good appetizer as it was one large roll, very difficult to eat. Happy our from 4-6 has half price appetizers, so if you can make it then, this is the best time, as items are slightly pricey. Also very loud, so if you are looking for a place to chat, not the best choice. lots of tv's for watching sports events Pros: Good, high end, comfort food Cons: Loud, little pricey more

Expensive Beer, Great Atmosphere 6/21/2005

Great food, good atmosphere, but go on Monday afternoons until the early evening when beers and appetizers are (affordable) cheaper. The food is a little heavy on garnish; ask for your entree with "no parsley." Trust me. Great novelty condom machine in the bathroom. By the way, if anyone wants to come to Yard House and meet up with me, I'm usually sitting on the end of the bar in a collared shirt and jeans. I'm a little lonely ... :( Pros: Great food!, Lots of beer!, Condom Machine Cons: Too much parsley!, Lonely! more

Great Beer 4/24/2005

Best place for a beerlover in northern Cook county! They pair it with a diverse menu of well-prepared selections, in the ten to twenty dollar range. They also do a great job capturing the energy and ambiance that is more typical of a city of Chicago trendspot (as opposed to the ubiquitous "Chuck E Cheese" feel of many far north suburban eating establishments). In my opinion, this is the best thing in "The Glen" and, if you can find a designated driver, well worth spending a few hours. Pros: Beer Selection, Interesting Menu, Fun Waitstaff Cons: Crowded, Wait for seating, Parking in garage more

Editorial
  • The Scene
Servers who know their suds bustle to oversized booths and tables with samples from the selection of more than 150 draft beers. Conversation buzzes above classic rock tunes in the expansive space and at the horseshoe-shaped bar. Exposed ductwork, polished concrete floors and abstract SoCal-inspired murals keep the vibe contemporary.

    The Food
Peppered with memorable dishes, the menu includes burgers topped with bearnaise and fried onions, and surprises like miso-glazed sea bass, kung pao calamari and porcini-crusted halibut. Coconut shrimp is a dramatic affair: three paddle-shaped shrimp pyramid atop sweet, chili-infused green papaya salad. Crunchy firecracker wings zing with spicy-sweet sesame-garlic-plum glaze. Entrees steal the show with a mix of down-home ingredients and elevated flavors: Seared sea scallops mingle with lightly breaded porcinis on wasabi-mashed potatoes; rum barbecue-glazed pork tenderloin nestles with spinach-corn mashed potatoes. For dessert, peach-pear cobbler with uber-creamy caramel ice cream is a big hit.
