Restaurant com user/had no problem 3/16/2009

I have always loved this restaurant. My favorite dish is no longer on the menu...Robin's Ginger Chicken (add broccoli). I have ordered since it was removed and it is still good. On this visit on 3/13/09, we had a Restaurant com certificate for $25 off of a $50 food total. It is not that easy to get to that $50. We had to order a lot of food, but there was no complaint when the food was enjoyed. We had crispy spring rolls, shrimp tempura and chicken with lettuce leaves from the appetizer menu and for entrees we had schezuan prawns, spicy basil fried rice, and masaman chicken. Everything was so very good! We had plenty of the entrees to bring home for lunch and we enjoyed it all over again the next day. I would recommend this place to anyone. Pros: Delicious food/decent prices more

Restaurant. com users beware!! Extra charge at this restaurant! 1/4/2009

Overall, the food at this restaurant was pretty good, despite the smaller than normal portions. It is a great place for someone who enjoys spicy food. The restaurant served a combination of Chinese and Japanese dishes.\r \r We want to caution anyone who plans on using restaurant. com GC at Ya Shu Yuen II in Roswell, GA. When we received our bill, we realized that we were charged extra for hot tea and rice. We've been to Asian restaurants that charges for every bowl of rice and we are okay with the charge as long as we knew up front. Upon inquiry to the restaurant owner, we found out those charged were added because we used a restaurant. com GC! We were okay with the 18% gratuity since it was stated on the restaurant. com GC. However, no where on the restaurant. com GC did it mention charging for rice and hot tea.\r \r We were pretty happy with the food and initially had plan on going back in the future. However, the extra charge imposed on us made us rethink about our plan. So, be warned! Restaurant. com users beware! Pros: Food was good Cons: Hidden charge for Restaurant. com GC users!! more

A hidden gem 7/15/2008

Ten years ago I used to be an unofficial member of a chinese family that owned a fantastic restaurant. It served as the mainstay of the local chinese community and the food was worlds better than what I found anywhere else. Ya Shu Yuen II is as close as I've ever gotten to that. We've had most of the standard fair and it's always top notch. On rare occasions they miss on some of the basics like fried rice, but a miss for them means it's just average, not bad. The big soups (jum bong) and seafood dishes are all good, and I'm eager to try their steamed fish., but I haven't tried the sushi. \r \r Bottom line - excellent, top notch Chinese cusine. Seriously. Pros: awesome food, exceleltn variety of great dishes, extremely nice people Cons: none. more

GREAT Hidden Authentic Chinese Food - Reviewed by a Chinese patron 11/15/2007

I love this restaurant! Recent change in ownership opens the doors to bigger variety in authentic Chinese dishes. [Trust me, I'm Taiwanese-Chinese and have been to many Chinese restaurants!] Try the sauteed snow pea leaves dish - light, crisp, fresh, delicious - just like my mother makes it! We also had the house seafood pan fried noodles - very crispy, not greasy at ALL, beautifully presented. Other dishes to try include the garlic basil chicken - DELICIOUS. Comes sizzling in a traditional clay pot/dish , the chicken is tender and moist, and made fragrant by the basil leaves and garlic. They still have more Americanized dishes if that is what you prefer (of those, I like the General Tso's chicken, Mongolian beef, Hunan chicken, Szechuan chicken). Clean, cozy, modern atmosphere. Service is fantastic - the owners as well as their family members are extremely attentive and gracious. The restaurant is located on the corner of a big intersection (Hwy 9/Alpharetta Hwy and Mansell Rd) but is slightly hidden. MUST TRY!!! Pros: Great food, amazing service, easy parking, take-out Cons: Slightly hidden more
