Can't beat this! 4/8/2004

Excellent service with traditional Mexican food. Almost all of the restaraunts in Mexican village are great, but Xochimilco takes the cake. Try Mexican burrito for a filling meal. Pros: Inexpensive, Great food more

Medical School Margaritas 2/5/2004

Xochilmilco's was the best place for an ""after-test party"". The food is wonderful and the golden margaritas are the best. Highly recommended. Just what the doctor ordered. Pros: Combination plates, Golden Margaritas, Close parking more

What Happened? 11/3/2003

Sorry but have been very disappointed in this restaurant on last 2 visits. Food was not as good as in the past. We've been going here for years and have switched to Mexican Village. Cons: food so so, service- average, parking- ok more

El Comal is the best!!! 9/7/2003

After reviewing the top 10, I must disagree. El Comal restaurant serves the best Mexican food in Detroit. The food quality, taste, service, and value make it #1 in my book. It's also been newly renovated inside and has live entertainment Fri and Sat. I've tried all the restaurants on the list and none compare to the Comal! more

Excellent Food 8/28/2003

We recently visited the restaurant and was happy to be inside in the cool air, noisy atmosphere and a cold beer! The food was tasty and fresh. I loved our waiter, what a hottie! Lots to look at and the kids in the joint didn't give me a headache. I will share my dining experience with friends and will return before going to elsewhere to eat. Thank you for the good time. Jo Poe Pros: cold beer, fast and friendly, fresh food Cons: parking, parking, parking more

awesome food 2/7/2003

awesome mexican food, very authentic, easy to drive to! Would recommend to all more

Weak restaurant 2/7/2003

The food is average at best. Xochimilco is very overrated to say the least. I'm not sure why people think it is so good. The magarita's are like sweat tarts so I'm not sure the attraction here. In Mexican town there are many good restaurants and Xochimilco isn't one of them. Cons: Bad Food, Weak Margaritas more

simply the best 2/7/2003

for years I have told anyone who would listen, that Xochimilco has the best Mexican food on the planet, including Mexico. The price is right, the food is fantastic and the atmosphere is great. What more could anyone ask for??? more

Overrated 2/7/2003

The last time I went to Xochimilco's with my family, the service was incredibly bad. There food is mediocre and the restaurant doesn't seem clean. Plenty of other Mexican restaurants with better service and food in the area (El Rancho, Mexican Village, Evie's Tamales, Los Galanes). Cons: Not Clean, Not Friendly, Food Isn't That Good more

mos def 2/7/2003

They have the best Mexican food I've ever tasted. You get a lot of food for such a small price. It's a must eats. more

Mexico here we come 1/29/2003

The Food is good and service OK the place needs to be updated and the parking lots needs repair and/or lighting. Pros: Food, Hours Cons: Service, Decorations more

Detroit's best of Mexico 1/12/2003

This place is wonderful. I don't understand how they stay in business. They give you all the chips and salsa you can handle and the portions of food, my goodness. If you have only a few dollars, but want a delicious meal for two this is the place to go. Dinner for two with no alcoholic beverages, less than $20. Can't beat that ANYWHERE, unless you went to Mexico. more

Best Ever 11/25/2002

This is a nice place to eat. Everyone there is so nice and friendly. Yiu also get a nice portion of food for your money. more

Agree, Great Mexican Food 11/6/2002

Awsome food! The price is great, and the atmosphere is like your in your Grandmother's dining room. more

Unsure? Try Xochi's first! 10/16/2002

Xochimilco offers Mexican that appeals to the masses. Their food is very good and features all the usual traditional Mexican dishes like flautas and tacos. If you're not sure about venturing into Mexicantown, this is a good first place to try. After that, you will soon learn that the service and friendliness in Mexicantown is second-to-none. Now you are free to try some of the more exotic offerings from neighboring restaurants. more

Margaritas 10/12/2002

In the heart of Mexican Village it provides a great atmosphere of old Mexico. The short 10-20 minute wait is worth it especially if you like Margaritas. It is freshly made from a family recipe. Just head upstairs to get yourself a glass or caraffe while waiting. You won't be disappointed with the taste. Once seated the service is quick with a wide variety of Mexican dishes and very affordable. It is also family friendly. more

dark taco 10/3/2002

This so famous restaurant, has little to do with the food. But only with tradition. It's funny how the suburbanites, can put something that is just ok, on the map. There are far better mexican restaurants in this fair city. more

Take a date 10/3/2002
