This company is awful. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Infact, I'm planning on posting my review anywhere I can stick one for them, my experience was so awful.
My 83 year old grandmother lives at home with me and my mother, where we care for her jointly. After much debate, we'd finally agreed to bring outside help into the home after being overwhelmed so long. Through PASSPORT, a program for low income individuals meant to help keep the elderly out of nursing homes, we were introduced to several Home Health Aide Companies. Some were good, some bad.
XCEL was undoubtedly one of the worst.
Switched to this company because of a change in regulations within the program, the first three days, the company was unable to staff my my grandmother after taking her case. The fourth day, the coordinator showed up three hours laid toting an aide behind her after calling me two hours and forty-five minutes before to say she'd be a 'few minutes behind'. We were then assigned a girl who thought it was okay to show up anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours late, thats the days she bothered to show up, and then sleep while she was here. Not to mention her propensity for trying to move my Hoyer-Transfer-Only grandmother by herself.
After calling several times, we moved on to another Aide, who would be one of my most disliked Aides of all time. Outside of eating us out of house and home, she also tried to move my grandmother by herself, after being asked repeatedly not too, and nearly dropped her twice. She wouldn't clean up her mess after cooking a meal for HERSELF, wouldn't make my grandmothers bed, couldn't operate the Hoyer lift, lied about her training and instructions, threw clothes in the bottom of the closet rather than put them away in the dresser, didn't know how to mop (no joke),.. the list could go on and on and on.
Needless to say, we moved on.
The third Aide we had was one of my favorites. A woman I liked very much. She was wonderful with my grandmother, cleaned up after herself and my grandmother (which was all we asked, people need to realize these women aren't here as house-keepers to the family, but as an Aide to their elderly member), was here on time, friendly and dependable. This woman, who was a shining star among many black holes was pulled off of us for NO reason other than to switch her out and try someone new with us, despite our BEGGING to keep her and my grandmothers tears of disappointment.
Now, we have a girl who is pleasant enough, but incapable of cleaning or of going through any of the duties. I've caught her sleeping. Twice. I've caught her in lies, trying to moving my grandmother alone, and shows up late and leaves early, expecting me to sign her time card for it.
Even after calling and complaining about the work, NOTHING has been done.
If this is a company you're debating going through, I beg you to reconsider. They are dangerous, sloppy, and sometimes uncaring. We had a good experience with Heritage Home Health, but they are now excluded from the passport program for licensing reasons.
