I came to this salon with no expectations because I never was thrilled leaving one. I thought wrong when I walked into this one. I love my hair by Xac, he is so talented. I never got compliments on my hair before. It wasnt a choice of mine to go there but my girlfriend read the reviews and said go. Thanks babe! Hes not cheap but I think its worth it considering I was never happy with a $75 cut so, whats an extra $50 for satisfaction? I will go back to Xac and now my girl will be there with me, thats a first, Maybe we can get our toes done together! Not!! Pros: Hot staff, talented and giving Cons: none more

Just in time... I walked into this salon a few weeks ago just to get some info on my new neighborhood salon and I left with the biggest smile on my face. Why? because I never felt so good about leaving a salon before and that wasn't even my day of beauty! I booked an appointment just by saying hello and welcoming them to the block. Anthony, the co-owner was at the desk saying goodbye to the very satisfied couple who had just seen Xac, the other co-owner and just from their reactions upon leaving, was good enough for me. I asked for a consultation with Xac and never been so pleased to hear someone know exactly what I wanted. After booking my appointment with him and on my way out, Anthony asked that I try out his amazing manicurist on the house when I get back so, I said sure! Well, needless to say, My hair is absolutely amazing. Xac is incredibly talented, the man is a genious with his tools and my color has never been so alive. I love my hi lights!! While I was processing with color, Regina did my manicure, she is another fabulous artist. This place is amazing! I very much so recommend it A+ guys. Thank you! Pros: A block away Cons: none more

If you're looking to get your hair done by a true master - creative and attitude free - Yuval is your man. I can always count on him for stunning color and highlights and highest quality cuts that fit me and my mood, last forever, and are easy to manage. I have never gotten so many compliments on my hair since I started seeing Yuval, about 4 years ago. I can't say that I discovered Xac Anthony's Salon on my own. My hair stylist Yuval, who has been cutting my hair for several years, recently left the salon that he had been working at, and in my opinion moved up to the big leagues when he arrived at Xac Anthony's. Yuval, who is a truly remarkable coiffeur, is certainly a genius at his craft. Whether I ask for a short or longer cut, or just let Yuval 'do his thing', it's always perfect. The service at Xac Anthony's is warm and personal, the atmosphere is serene and inviting and once you are coddled by their professional staff, you too will feel like a million bucks! I had been to many other stylists and salons in NYC over the years and can say that Yuval and Xac Anthony's Salon are the best of the best. Today was my first time in the Xac Anthony Salon to enjoy a facial. Right form the beginning I felt welcome. I have been to quite a few salons around the city and have not returned because of that ?I?m better then you ? attitude. I was referred to Edward for my facial and my friend was right about him. He was gentle and knew what he was doing. My skin felt and looked great, best of all, I experienced no pain during the extractions. I will defiantly go back to see him again. It felt like I met everyone in the salon by the end of the first hour! Not only did I get a fantastic -- and I really mean fantastic -- haircut from Xac (he takes so much time to listen and understand what you want, and the care he takes with your hair -- I would trust him with a chainsaw to my head!), but Anthony arranged a complimentary facial for me that very evening with Edward, who has the most amazing hands ever. My skin was glowing and calm when he finished even though I went in with red bumps and whatnot, convinced there was little any esthetician could do in an hour. Boy was I wrong. Just add to that the great, friendly vibe in the chic space (love the huge couch in the front and the beautiful glass artworks), Victor (oh how I had missed him!) replacing my glass of water with red wine, and the first and last things you see when you come in and out being the big smiles from Jose and Anthony...I think I've found my new hangout. I went in feeling like a new client and left feeling like an old friend. I will definitely be back, and I wish them all success! I have been a Xac follower for many years now. I initially with to see Xac because I lost a bet with a friend (we each thought our personal hair stylist was the best at the time). The bet was whomever lost had to go to the other stylist and the winner got to tell the stylist what to do with the loser?s hair. No questions asked and the loser couldn?t know what the stylist was told to do. I lost the bet and Xac came into my life. So in actually I ended up winning! The first time I went to see Xac I was a blond with straight average Joe kind of hair. When I left I was a red head with spiky cutting edge hair. I really felt like I had been on one of those make-over shows. Needless to say that was an uncomfortable situation but Xac makes you feel comfortable, no matter what. I had so much fun that evening. Xac?s funny, sweet and very easy on the eyes! The new Salon/Spa is amazing. This isn?t your grandma?s salon. Going to XacAnthony is an experience. The ambiance is warm and welcoming. Everything in Earth tones (I love the floor). There?s nothing stark or harsh about this place. It?s white glove service from the get-go (be sure to get a glass of wine). The staff Xac has surrounded himself with is of the same caliber as he is and knowing Xac I wouldn?t expect anything less. So if you?re looking for a new stylist (be it Xac or one of the talented other stylist at XacAnthony) head over to West 19th Street and treat yourself to a true New York experience! I've been a client of Lucia's for a few years now, and followed her to Xac Anthony Salon & Spa from her previous employer. Therefore, I knew that I would be happy with Lucia's work from the get-go, but didn't know what to expect in going to a new salon atmosphere. Loved the experience! The space is bright, open, minimalistic decor, great music, nice people, clean, and so enjoyable all around. I look forward to going on a Friday night for a free margarita. As a regular in the NYC spa scene, I made my way downtown to XacAnthony's after a friend raved about the facials. When I walked in, I was surprise at the huge space. The space is warm and chic. I was greeted by a very nice man sitting at the front desk who whisked me to the back of the salon and offered me a glass of wine. The owner of the salon came by and introducted himself as well! The salon is a dog friendly salon and there is this adorable little french bulldog named Bella who is the resident pet. As I sat and enjoyed my wine, I was able to really check out the space. The first floor is dedicated to being a full service salon. There are shampoo stations, color stations and even an area for manis and pedis. The walls are decorated with glass sculptures by a local artist. After a short wait, the salon and spa's Aestitician, Edward, came and introduced himself. He led me down a small set of stairs to a small hallway with two rooms. He explained the spa currently has one treatment room for massage and couples massage and the other for facials. He opened the door to his treatment room. Candles were burning, fabric draped on the ceiling and track lighting around the floor - it was very inviting! He left the room so that I could undress and finish my wine. Edward is amazing! He explained step by step what his facial is comprised of and what makes his facials different. I was really happy to hear that he does not do peels or anything harsh to the face on a first visit or without thoroughly discussing it with his clients. The facial was fantastic! His extractions were completely painless and was shocked to see that I wasn't red at all! After the facial, I went up their rooftop space and enjoyed another glass of wine. When I checked out, I was greeted by first name at the front desk and happily paid for my facial. I HIGHLY recommend the salon and spa and cannot wait to come back! I went in this weekend for a back/neck "facial." Edward worked on my back assiduously, for hours. The environment was extremely relaxing. Edward was conversational and gentle, and I felt very at ease. He was unusually attentive to me--always checking my comfort level. My skin is in great shape now, thanks to him, and that's a hard-earned compliment! It's smoother, and I have fewer blemishes. I felt confident that he knew his trade inside and out, and I would go back in a second. For anyone suffering from acne or problem skin, this is the way to go. Ask for Edward--he'll take awesome care of you! more

I came in to this fabulous looking salon last week - and I was automatically greeted with such nice smiling faces and friendly voices. The atomosphere was so warm and inviting and it felt like a great place to be. I had an appointment to see Lucia - she was giving me a haircut and highlights. She offered me a choice of wine/magaritas/water/coffee, spoke to me as if I were her friend and not a client, it was fabulous. I felt so comfortable I told her to do what she felt was right for my hair color, and left it in her hands. All I can say is LUCIA KNOWS HOW TO DO HER HIGHLIGHTS. I'm not even kidding, she was fantastic. I get complemented every where I go that the color is different but perfect for me. I am told from friends that they are so happy I finally made a choice like this and that whoever did my hair that I should buy her something. I agree so, Lucia, next time lunch/dinner is on me - LOL. But I want to say a special thank you, the compliments make me feel so good and highlights look fantastic. I will be back soon to see you - start thinking of what we should do next!!!!!!! more

This is my first review and I am glad I saved it for Zac Anthonys. Last saturday Zac cut and colored my hair. I am very pleased with the result; Zac not only listened to what I wanted but was also able to make suggestions for my face structure and skin tone. It is this kind of attention to detail that makes Zac far better than any other stylist I have ever worked with. The hightlights and color look amazingly natural and the cut is low maintenance. All of his suggestions complemented what I wanted and the finally result is that I have never been so happy walking out of the salon. I waited to write the review until after I had styled it myself and I am even more pleased to say that it is easy to fix and the color is as beautiful as the first day. Like many other upscale salons in NYC, the interior is modern, comfortable, and very stylish. Zac Anthony's has the 5th Avenue atmosphere without the attitude. I recently went to Xac Anthony for a facial with Edward and LOVED IT!!! It was my first time to the salon and from the moment I walked in I absolutely loved the atmosphere. It was a very clean, hip, and relaxing environment all at the same time. The salon itself was very spacious and had a great decor (perfect for hosting an event). The glass artwork throughout the salon was amazing! The spa section of the salon, located on the lower level, was pleasantly set apart from the salon and made for a great place to set the spa atmosphere. Very simple and comfortable. The facial itself was wonderful! Edward was very knowledgable and had an amazing touch. His technique was great and very relaxing. I practically fell asleep for the whole facial! I've had many facials elsewhere and usually NEVER get that relaxed. His extractions were painless and I left without any redness at all! I was ready to go out to dinner right after! I would highly recommend Xac Anthony and will definitely be coming back to see Edward on a regular basis! OH and one more thing, I went on a Friday evening and to my suprise it was "Tequila Sunset" a.k.a they serve alcohol!!! It was great! They even have a roofdeck for you to enjoy your beverages outside as well! LOVE THIS PLACE! more

Great salon atmosphere! I went in last night for the first time to meet my girlfriend, she was getting her hair done by Xac. I walked in and thought I had the worng address at first. LOL! It was their Friday night "Tequilla Sunset" So the place was pretty crowded with people sippin on margaritas, and gettin their hair done. There was all this amazing art work on the walls, ( they double as a gallery for artists to show case their work) So the reception area looks like it could be the entrance to a hip lounge. I walked in saw my girl and she looked amazing! Xac is the man! (Thank you!!!!!) She is So happy! It took her years to finally find someone with talent!! I made an appointment next week for myself! Oh and afterwards we took our margaritas to the salon's rooftop....WOW! what a beautiful view! I loved all the wood benches and tables and palm trees up there! It really does feel like something you'd find in South Beach! I look forward to my appointment next Friday! ( and the free margaritas) :) Oh and the Massage too! I made an appointment with my old haidresser Lucia, at her new salon Xacanthony's and I realize more and more every time I see her why I am willing to follow her anywhere, the woman is FANTASTIC! I went in for a color and a cut and I left feeling like a brand new woman. My highlights look AMAZING, and they compliment the FABULOUS haircut. The atmosphere was comfortable, and loftish, and they treated me like I was a queen, and was treated to a fabulous Margarita. I would recommend this salon to all my friends, and I would recommend they set an appointment with LUCIA!! I guarantee they will not leave disappointed. more

XA Salon on 19th st. has the best colorist specialist in NYC, her name is Jeanise Aviles. She has been doing my hair ever since I moved to NYC from Boston. Best find ever! She is a true artist. My hair looks incredible; healthy and natural. Visiting her once every couple of months is the best gift I can give to myself since I walk out of there feeling like "America's Next Top Model"!! Yeah... she is that good! Highly Recommended! more

You can also get some highlights that are superior to anything the sun can provide. Xavier Cruz has been cutting my hair since I moved to New York 5 years ago. He's really in his element in this sleek Chelsea spa. You'll feel cooler just by stepping inside the large, cool, open space. The salon is open seven days a week-something hard to find in Chelsea. The staff is uniformly friendly and welcoming. You'll be a member of the family after your first visit. Susan from Chelsea more
