The BEST DENTIST 12/15/2009

The only con I have is that I live in Anaheim. I used to live in La Mesa. I've been with Dr. Wu since 1999. He transformed my perception of dentistry. Best of all, he made me smile again. I'm not real big on the internet, but my daughter was online, so I decided to give me input. If your'e look for a loyal, honest, and gentle dentist that takes your needs into account first than look no further. My daughter and my grand kids go to Dr. Wu and I just love him and his staff! Pros: Great atmosphere, Nice dentist, movie glasses Cons: drive more

The sweetest staff and doctor! 12/15/2009

I am not sure about the pregnant girls post (she sounds like a raging psycho though) I love that the office has a such calming vibe. Sharon was super sweet and made me tea soon after I got there. I had wanted invisalign (invisible braces) for a while and decided to call 1-800-dentist. They referred me to Dr Wu, I called and scheduled a consultation. The Dr. was really sweet and never pressured me. I am currently still in treatment and look forward to my visits and my teeth are starting to straighten really well! Pros: painless injections! Cons: no complaints :0) more

Incredible experience 12/15/2009

My wife and I were looking for an affordable dentist that actually did work that lasts. We had been to dentist after dentist with not only painful experiences but work that was subpar. I recently had 10 amalgams replaced a few years ago with a material called composite. I was in so much pain after the work! Not only that my teeth started breaking almost immediately. I went back to that dentist only to find out that now I needed crowns! So I called 1800 dentist to find some help. They referred me to Dr. Wu and his spa. My experience was incredible! I have Delta insurance which covered about 50% of the major work. I knew I needed a lot of work and after some research I realized that dental insurance really isn't all that good. How do you think the CEO's of these companies rake in millions of dollars a year?... by screwing us patients. Anyhow, I knew that I would have some out of pocket expense but it was well worth it. Dr. Wu used an camera to explain everything that was going on in my mouth. I had all 10 of my fillings replace with porcelain made from a computer! The staff was incredible and while I was getting treatment, the massage therapist worked on my hands and feet at no extra cost! Not only that, it only took 2 appointments so I did not have to take too much time off from work. Dr. Wu and his staff have made dentistry affordable and comfortable for me and my family! For that I am eternally grateful! Pros: top dentist in San Diego, accepts insurance, comp massages more

Not the best choice... 12/15/2009

The Quick and Dirty (Reason for 1-Star Rating): Hubby and I were told they were in-network for our insurance (we found them on our dental insurance website and called them to confirm). After our 2.5 hour appointment, we were told they weren't in-network. Two months later we received the bill. A really big bill. Plus, they x-rayed both of us when we asked them explicitly not to (especially because I was preggers)! Pros: 1. Very zen and classy reception area, complete with waterfall 2. Friendly Dentist and staff 3. Lots of parking and easy to find Cons: 1. Received three confirmation you-must-call-us-back-or-we'll-charge- you-$100-an-hour-for-your-appointment calls 2. Received the-doctor-will-be-out-on-Monday-can-we-reschedule call the Friday before and then received another two confirmation calls on Monday and Tuesday 3. Told over the phone and at the office that our insurance would cover both of our oral exams, cleanings, and x-rays (we told them ""no x-rays, thank you) 4. Waited 30 minutes for them to check our insurance and twiddle our thumbs 5. Had an oral exam and cleaning: was told I had gum disease and needed five crowns (wow! oddly, no dentist had ever told me this yet...hmmm fishy) 6. Had x-rays even though I requested to not have x-rays while pregnant 7. All whilst my husband sat in his dental chair waiting and waiting and waiting (...and then he got x-rayed too many times because their fancy equipment wasn't working...even though he asked them not to)...and he still never got his teeth cleaned 8. Told we needed to pay the deductible at the end of the appointment (""Wait, I thought you were in-network?"")...so we did 9. Explained the cost of two cavities (one for me and one for him) and five crowns would cost (well over $2500) 10. Received bill in the mail two months later (even though I called numerous times previously to resolve the matter)...a bill I will be contesting (they even forgot to subtract the deductible, haha) This is the laughable part: not only did they lie and say they were in-network, but they actually thought no matter what we'd want to still use their services and come back again. That's so funny. Why would I go back to you when I can find thousands of dentists through my website that actually ARE in-network? more

Sigh of relief! 9/16/2008

I was a bit skeptical of the 'SPA" dentistry but my coworker loves Dr Wu. I decided to get a consult for invasilgn. I thought he'd be really expensive but was comparible to the other quotes I got. Dr Wu was informative and friendly. He didn't scold me for taking breaks from seeing a dentist(like my last dentist). He just went into resolution mode. He has great financing though I didn't go that route. His massage therapist is the greatist! Get there ten or fifteen minutes early and use their oxygen bar or get a massage. Pros: oxygen bar, coffee bar, massage therapist and most important highly skilled dentist. more

  • In Short
Buddhist statues, Asian art and Zen furniture design calms patrons as they enter what many consider a den of anxiety: the dentist's office. But at Sutra--a term referring to ancient Buddhist teachings--dentists and spa technicians work together to relax your mind and body during treatments. X-Ray, veneer and Invisalign procedures are performed in spa rooms, with aromatherapy pillows and virtual reality movies. Recovery rooms come equipped with a private massage therapist and Zen oxygen bar.
