Woolley?s surprised the hell out of me 6/6/2009

I guess I?ve always had a negative idea of hotel restaurants. After dining at Woolley?s, I can honestly say that this restaurant broke the mold. The food was top-notch, the service was great and prices were very reasonable. My wife and I were staying at the Embassy Suites by the airport and were too tired to go out for dinner. We decided to walk downstairs and hazard the hotel dining experience. We were seated right away in an open gazebo area that my wife really liked. I had a steak and my wife had an Asian Pasta dish. Both of our dishes were wonderful. I also know a little bit about wine. I asked to see their wine list and was surprised with how many selections they had. We split a bottle of Rodney Strong Pinot Noir 2006. The whole time we were traveling I don?t think we found a fine dining experience that had this particular wine. I really liked the wait staff. Towards the end of the meal, the restaurant manager approached our table and asked out we like our meal. It was really a nice touch. I was extremely pleased with our experience. If we lived closer, my wife and I would be dining their all the time! Pros: Great food. Good prices. Loved our server. Cons: Not in my home town! more

excellent steak 5/31/2009

I was suprised at this restaurant. Very good steak, and very nice and personable servers as well. Pros: very good food and service Cons: not marked very well on the outside more

Really, Really Good 5/10/2009

I dine quite frequently and I do not give praise easily. I have dined at every fine dining restaurant in the twin cities. Pros: exceptional dining Cons: suprised to find a good restaurant in a hotel in Bloomington more

Fantastic Steak 2/17/2009

Wow, I was very suprised by this suburban eatery. They have fantastic steak, and I'm a steak expert. Pros: great steak, service Cons: umm none that I can think of... more

Pretty good food, but some very poor service by some staff. 1/25/2009

We had to wait for a little bit to get served and every table around us received bread at the beginning of the meal while we received ours once we asked. Our actually waitress was good, but the staff around her failed badly. I probably won't go back as it really wasn't good enough to warrant a second attempt. The chef also covered every plate with parsley for looks which is not very creative. more

Excellent restaurant (steakhouse), the best in Bloomington 12/21/2008

I have heard of this place but never tried. Recently I had the chance it was really great. We started with crispy beer battered walleye fingers which were the best I have had. I had the shrimp and scallop dish while my partner had the new york strip, both were excellent but the lobster cream sauce with my dish was out of this world. Pros: great food and service Cons: we had to park a slight distance away from main door due to the full parking lot more

What a great Restaurant 11/19/2008

I eat out Three times a week and this restaurant is one of the best. If you have ever just wanted good food and service to match this is it. Pam is my choice for server of the year and the chef comes to my table every time I visit to ensure a perfect meal. What a gem of a restaurant. It reminds me of the old Charlie's in downtown Minneapolis when food was the reason you went to a restaurant and not because it is trendy. Pros: Everything Cons: It is in a hotel more

Awful 11/7/2008

Our waitress neglected our table, was rude and unapologetic for the problems with our meals. Manager on duty basically told us that our business meant nothing to the establishment. more

Great staff, excellent food 10/21/2008

This place has been around for a while - 20+ years - I remember going to sunday brunch here when I was a kid. I believe they have improved over the years and kept up with trends instead of being left behind. Pros: Great staff, good food, good wine, a very enjoyable dining experience more

good american food & steaks 10/18/2008

What an excellent experience! Wait staff was very personable, and the food was very good. We had the swordfish and the filet mignon. Both were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The scalloped potatoes are the best side item! What a great value too! with your dinner you recieve a salad, bread, fresh vegetables, & side item (with your entree). Most places are ala carte and you have to pay extra for that! I would highly recommend and will return. Pros: Great value with salads and sides that are free not ala carte Cons: really cant think of anything negative more

Very average hotel restaurant 10/14/2008

We recently went to Woolley's for our anniversary dinner. The food was average and a bit pricey for the quality and service. Definitely not a ""destination restaurant"", there are much better options in the south metro. more

Excellent steaks, fish, wine & service 9/19/2008

Their beef is certified angus beef, wine spectator awarded wine list, several service staff that have recieved Bloomington diamond service awards and a Chef that attended NY CIA and teaches free cooking classes. I would highly recommend this place to everyone. In Bloomington there is really only two choices Woolley's or Kincaids, and why waste the gas to downtown? The service staff Pamela, Grandma Suezanne, Jaime & Enrique are absolutly amazing. Pros: excellent wait staff, great wine and food Cons: in a hotel, but really not like a hotel restaurant, a very cozy spot more

Eat some place else 9/19/2008

Food preparation at best average. Service slow and surly.Glass wine served off. Be aware that this restaurant is independently owned and operated, not in any way affiliated with Embassy Suites and if there are problems do not expect Embassy Suites to help resolve them. Find some place else out of the hotel where prices and quality are more commensurate with on another. Pros: Don't have to leave the hotel Cons: Bad dining experience more

excellent!!! 5/21/2008

The food was awesome. I don't say that lightly. I eat well. I don't do Outback. I do Ruth's. The food was great And my server, Pamela, was delightful. Thank you Wooley's, and thank you Pamela... Pros: food & service Cons: hotel atmosphere more

nice atmosphere 4/21/2008

Was a little disappointed by the steaks, out of 8 people 4 of us has steak(all different cuts) they had very little taste and alot of fat .Everyone else had a pasta dish and seemed to love it. They should probably be known for the pasta instead of steakhouse. The service was average, the full bar was nice and drinks were great. I would have to say if your looking for a great steak , this is not the place. A little over priced for the quality of food. Pros: ambience, good drinks, great hashbrown. Cons: overpriced fatty steaks. more

Great Steaks! One of the Best kept secrets in Bloomington 3/30/2008

The place is really fine dining linen table cloths and napkins very classy. But dont be fooled all are welcome. I have been back time and time again for the steaks the martini steak is my favorite. They have an extensive wine and champagne selection we had the Riesling it was excellent. All in all a ver ynice place with courteous and professional staff attending to our every need. A must try for everyone. Pros: Steaks, Wine selection, Service more

Great menu 6/23/2003

The food is a little pricey but it sure is good. The Chef still comes out to talk about the food with you and that is an excellent touch. Difficult to choose an item from the menu as you will want to try everything. The sauces and presentation are great as well as the entree themselves. Would definitely go back again. Pros: Sauces/presentation, Svce/not crowded, Fantastic menu Cons: it's a Hotel more

Awesome Ambience 8/14/2002

The total ambience was awesome with tons of plants and a waterfall. The food was the best I have ever had in a hotel with excellent service that only enhanced the food. The Executive Chef even came out and asked how everything tasted in a casual non-intrusive way. Overall out whole experience was great and we will definately be back. Pros: Free Parking, Easy to get to more
