Woodland Hills Church

This church is my heart. I can not say enough about all of the endless and multiple facets that envelope this church, those that attend, and ALL of the beautiful and genuinely caring, people who: sing, play instruments, watch our children during worship, serve coffee, and all of the other goings on at WHC including offering "the refuge" .........I can't even begin to explain what a cool Thursday evening that is! The Refuge is: every kind of help, support, support group, and resource in a gatheting on thursday nights, worship, fellowship, music, food and then you can find a group for support for nearly every cause. This church is full of fun, love, acceptance, diversity, energy, and every kind of person ....even the air in this church seems to be ethereal. And Greg, the pastor...well he just BLOWS your mind! SO intelligent and real, he is not what you are used to, the moment you listen to him speak, the gift the Lord gave him to share with the world is something you canfeel in your soul. You can actually FEEL everyone in the church engaged in that worship with you, and Greg Boyd. Its amazing. He opens your mind to possibilties, enlightens when unaware and understands theology so deeply he can speak in a language that a two year old can understand, and he delivers his teachings in such a manor not only is all intimidation and "heaviness" of the bible relieved, but you actually come away educated and better, closer friends with the Lord. You will NEVER spend Sunday in a better way......until the following Sunday that is ;) more

Good: Senoir Pastor, Greg Boyd is a dynamic intellectual who is capable of relating insightful concepts to ordinary people.. Bad: The lack of beautiful inspiring architecture such as stained glass, lofty vaulted ceilings or the comfort of ritual like scriptural readings or communion is slightly disquieting.. Improvements: More of Boyd, less of the other pastors, eliminate announcements or "announcement voice" delivery, much more interaction between parishioners, parishioners & Boyd, let parishioners occasionally sing, make music, dance etc.. Other: More parking lot exits!!!. more

If you're looking for a congregation and church to call home that is contemporary and upbeat, come to Woodland Hills Church. The only thing is that the music team reminds you of going to a concert. Woodland Hills was once an old Kmart and is now rennovated to the core. This is a growing church with many activities. more
