The location on Cedar Rd is definately a ""whole in the wall"" with a big name behind it. Pros: Good Sweet Potatoe Chips Cons: Bland Brisket, Bland Cole Slaw, Canned beans?

Overhyped! 3/6/2010

I could have had a V8 2/5/2010

After watching BBQ Pit Masters, I wanted to taste some of this award winning pork! Big mistake. The bofriend and I spent $37 for a sampler platter; the portions weren't skimpy (a plus). We had the brisket, chopped pork and ribs, and none of it had any flavor or as they say on TV flavor profiles. Luckily the boy friend and I have a spice cabinet, hot sause, and no how to use it . Pros: Portions and staff Cons: No flavor more

Yuck! 5/23/2009

We have been to both locations in Chesapeake. Cedar Rd is slightly better than Battlefield but neither is great. Like everyone else I have no idea how they have won any awards serving this junk. Maybe they don't serve what was used in the contests? I won't be back though. Cons: Overpriced, No taste more

YOU GOTT BE KIDDING ME 5/18/2009

With all the hype surrounding ""Woodchicks"" from the Food Newtwork win over Flay to the recent win at the Jubilee I expect better. This is one place where the end product is compromised. Food is tasteless. Not a whiff of smoke in the air. Gee what a surprise electric Southern Prides used vice a stik burner. This is a true BBQ Hall of Shame candidate! Pros: Exit to restaurant was easily visable from my seat Cons: Food is not up to the lowest backyard BBQ'er standards more

Poor at Best 8/24/2008

After seeing this place on the food network my wife just had to try it so I got a bunch of stuff to go one night on my way home. Sliced brisket, pulled pork, chicken and ribs and to my surprise they were all pretty awful. The beef was extraordinarily dry and lacked any real flavor to speak of, the chicken was extremely dry as well although it did posses a smokey flavor, the pulled pork was more like finely shredded pork and was as dry as it was greasy if that's even possible, the ribs were actually not that bad but average at best (about as good as you'd expect from applebees or something). The sauce they gave me which I assume was their world famous southern BBQ sauce could have been open pit or some other store bought brand because it sure wasn't anything special. Perhaps I was there on a bad night and the food they gave me was from last week or something but I doubt I would try them again and definately wouldn't reccomend them to anyone I know. Wish I could get my $40 back. Pros: If the food is bad then what's the point of listing any other pros? Cons: Very poor food more

nowhere close to award winning 6/1/2008

I was expecting award winning BBQ. The original BBQ sauce was ordinary, tasted like regular BBQ you buy in the grocery store. The pork was dry and very greasy. This was very dissapointing after reading all the great reviews. more
