Best

The fries are great and always fresh, and I also like the hamburgers (though I don't like thick meat, so be warned). Definitely a place to eat in, because everything gets soggy if...

Worst

I agree that the malts, shakes , and skyscrapers are tasty and nostalgic. But, the hamburgers are too thin.

not that good 10/31/2002

just becouse they have been around kansas city does not mean they have a good burger. more

ROCKIN' Burgers 10/26/2002

Winstead's has a wide variety of foods to offer - from chocolate sodas (Yumm...) to the juicy burgers we're voting for here - but the biggest part of Winstead's is the atmosphere. You not only get a great burger (which, I might add, is not complete without a rich, creamy shake or malt... fabulous stuff!), but you get the 50's style atmosphere along with it. I was introduced to Winstead's at a young age when my family would drive to KC to see the plaza lights, then go to Winstead's for a special dinner out. I go now whenever I get the chance, and I recommend that you do the same! Pros: Shakes, Malts, Sodas, Inexpensive Cons: Not enough locations more

Winstead's 10/25/2002

This burger joint is too expensive for the so-so food it serves. more

i work there 10/23/2002

Winsteads is good as long as you don't go during lunch rush and get premade burgers that are cold and dry. but go during slow business and it's all good. Pros: good parking, shakes, atmosphere more

Don't settle for just a single! 9/22/2002

Winstead's is the best ever! Don't just settle for a single Winstead, go for the double. It is amazing! I am far away from any Winstead's at the moment, but it is one of the things I miss the most about being home in KC! Go as soon as you can. My fav. meal is a double Winstead with cheese, katshup, mustard (pickels occasionally), an order of fries, and either the special chocolate malt, or an Orange Limade! YUM! I miss my Windtead's!!!!!GO! more

Not as good as it used to be 9/5/2002

This is not nearly as good as it once was. When Nabil took over the operations, the quality of the meat declined, but...they still have great shakes and fries...and onion rings that are to die for! Pros: shakes, location, onion rings Cons: meat, slow service, overall cleanliness more

Juicy 8/30/2002

They have great hamburgers! I really enjoy having a shake with my hamburger. Pros: Inexpensive, good parking, service Cons: crowded more

Sal's 8/11/2002

The burgers are very flat, so even if you have a small appetite, I would recommend at least a double hamburger. The onion rings are the best I've ever tasted and the chicken sandwiches were also very tasty! Don't forget to order a shake! more

Olde Tyme Pleasure 8/11/2002

Frequented Winsteads as a young man. Moved from K.C., but go back to Winsteads every time I'm in the area for the food and the nostalgia. Pros: enjoy reminiscing Cons: just not the same more

AAA 8/10/2002

Winstead's is a call from the past....just one bite brings you back to the 60's and 70's. Mummm! more

Sidneys' OK Winstead's Best 8/9/2002

I think I may have invented the Winstead's Triple Burger in the late '50s. Sauce only, please. Still go there every time I'm back in town. Sidneys for buzzing after the game, but Winstead's for eats. Tom, Westport '62 Pros: old time feel, friendly folks, good location Cons: a bit pricy, poor parking, crowded more

Monumental 8/8/2002

Since the 1950s, and after favorable write-ups in the likes of the New York Times and other notable pubicactions across the country, Winstead's has faithfully produced the finest hamburger in the United States. I am not alone in having flown into Kansas City for the express purpose of enjoying a triple cheese at one of the several Winstead's, fashioned after the original store on the Plaza. A monumental burger, Winstead's is burger of the nation. more

Winstead Instead 8/7/2002

The freshness, texture and taste of a Winstead Burger is second to none. One bite and you will be transported back in time, to an era before pre-formed, frozen beef-patties were the norm. Each burger is made with care. It is personal, unique and beyond delicious. This is the REAL thing. more

With or without onion. 8/3/2002

I have enjoyed Winstead's for over 50 years. The Winstead's steak burger can not be duplicated. With or without onion, it is the best. Pros: Good value, Inexpensive, Good atmosphere more
