The Wine Room is a great place to spend a couple of hours on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Parking in the area is plentiful and generally at meters (bring some quarters). You can sample 120 or so wines by the glass at prices ranging from $1.25 to $30+ per ounce. I didn't like that I had to pay $3 for a wine card so I could pay them more. Perhaps they should refund that $3 after you've refilled the card a few times. It just seems like it nickel and dimes you.\r

The wines vary from very low end where you feel the need to use tweezers to pull the splinters out of your mouth, to sublime. I've tasted everything from wines that weren't worth remembering (except to maybe know not to wate your palate on them in the future) to higher end Cali cabs and Bordeaux. The prices are at times reasonable, and at others fairly obscene--particularly when they are charging the equivalent of $500+ for a bottle of a 2004 Cali cab that isn't going to reach it's peak for another 5-10 years. \r

We've found that there is often not enough seating, and have at times left to go eat elsewhere when we had originally planned on eating there due to not being able to find a place to sit. During off-hours it's a great and relaxing place. During peak hours it's too crowded. We've also seen some pretty unruly drunks there--including a group of women who were literally falling down drunk, not to mention cursing like sailors at the top of their lungs. Management did eventually send them on their way, but not until after they had really created a scene that should have been addressed much earlier.\r

The food is tasty, and although the portions don't look like much, they are in fact very filling. I wish they would offer a selection of Ports and dark chocolates as well.\r

I haven't been to one of their seminars, maybe in the future. \r

When it's good, it's absolutely wonderful. When it's bad, I'm sorry that I've wasted the time and energy to get there.
Pros: Great selection, good way to try half a dozen wines in a couple of hours
Cons: Can get really crowded, prices are a very unreasonable 4-5 times markup
