I have shopped here for 16 years & I have no clue who this grumpy troll lady is the other people are speaking of. sometimes it's pretty busy, but then it is the best place to find the stones & stuff you need. Some people just think you're supposed to lay out the red carpet because you graced their door & spent a few dollars...lol. Maybe the complainers were grumpy or demanding & she was just reflecting their attitudes that day? Or maybe she just had a bad day? Either way the store is a GREAT place to buy stuff !! more

I don't understand these reviews. \r When I went, I was amazed. There was just so many things to choose from, and it's probably one of the neatest places I've ever been to. There were 2 women (that can remember) working there, and all of them were extremely nice. There was a woman in the back who made all the rental costumes, who was really nice, and she told us all about the costumes and that she made them all herself. And the woman up front, who everyone is referring to as "The Troll Lady" wasn't rude at all. She looks like she would be, and I'll admit she did freak me out, but once you get past that, she was really cool. My mom was talking to her for about a half hour and she was really nice.\r There was great service, the people were really cool, and the store was just amazing. I've told all my friends about it, and I recommend it to anyone looking fora crazy costume. more

I will NEVER return to this establishment again. Talk about RUDE people!! I have never been treated with such disrespect. I came to look for a costume for a party and this evil lady wouldn;t even let me in the door. She asked "What do you want" I said I want to look for a costume...her reply "We're closing" and she shut the door in my face!! I literally just stood there and stared at the door for a minute...I am a professional....just came from work...had a business suit on, heels...I wasn't a bum there just to window shop, I was prepared to lay out some serious cash for an amazing costume...I will NEVER set foot near this establishment again!! I told a friend of mine about these events and she said something similar happened to her....how is this place still in business??? more

I could have spent all day there. Nancy was the greatest , giving me all kinds of ideas for costumes. I even met a former dancer from Minsky's! I would have loved to take both of them to lunch to hear their stories. This place is authentic Vegas. Pros: Staff is very knowledgeable more

Here's how it plays out. While walking up to the business, the atmosphere is of ""old vegas""...but don't be fooled. The service you receive is FAR from home town goodness. There is a little troll like woman, might have been built with the store 85 years ago, who resembles MIMI from the Drew Carrey Show (after a gastric bypass and knee job). She is not outspoken - just simply rude. \r I STRONGLY recommend doing all costume shopping at STAR COSTUMES on Valley View and DI...they are amazing and not in the stone ages. Don't believe what was said about ""rudeness."" I have never been treated in any other way but wonderfully at Williams Costume. (How can they be rude when they have a live sanctuary of desert tortoises for customers to see?) \r \r The owner, Nancy, herself a former dancer for a Strip hotel floor show in the late 1940s (see her pictures there, and the mural of her on the building), has made literally thousands of costumes over the years, stored upstairs and down, for virtually anything -- Halloween, Easter, Xmas, costume parties, etc. These aren't cheaply made costume either! She is recommended by Strip hotels for guests needing costumes while in town. You go there and you'll see costume people from shows on the Strip buying or renting her merchandise (she has almost every kind of costume jewelry, rhinestones, fabric, masks, et al) for their performances -- that's been true for years and years.\r \r It's worth the trip to downtown Las Vegas, if only to look at the museum-like atmosphere of the place. \r \r Nancy is one of the nicest people you'll know, and she has SO many stories to tell about the old days of Las Vegas from the 1940s onwards. Having rented from this place for many years you would think I'm glutin for punishment. The most horribly grupmy lady owns and operates the back rental costumes. The truth is she's the real monster of halloween it's not a mask. Pros: They have a lot of costumes to choose from Cons: But you have to deal with the most unfriendly rude people more

I had purchased a beautiful Vera Wang wedding Gown from a local thrift store! at the time I was into personal vintage fashion dressing, I was in desperate need of millinery supplies and beads. I had recently relocated to Vegas & had gotten lost on back streets. I found the Williams Costume Cmpany by happenchance. I went inside to just take a look!! I found the exact crystal bead I needed for the beading of the design under the "mutton-sleeve design"! The exact bead for the neckline that was missing! & several hat forms for the design of hats I was wearing at the time! Now, I've begun reinactments and am again looking at a trip to Vegas to find my millinery needs! more
