WORMY FISH 1/28/2011

Want super-expensive, not terribly authentic sushi with live parasites in it? Ask for Linda, who wouldn't refund our money. Unbelievably bad! more

What a find! 2/5/2010

My husband and I were a bit skeptic about coming back to the suburbs to try a new sushi place after a few average experiences, but we decided to do an early valentine's dinner here tonight. It is such a cozy restaurant with beautiful decor. The service is simply amazing, from the hostess to our server and even the sushi chefs! We ordered a few rolls and had the sea bass entre. I normally don't like cooked fish but the sea bass was so perfectly cooked and the sauce it was served in was very unique. We got a thorough explanation of each of the rolls we ordered as well as their wide selection of wines and desserts. If you can, try the stuffed mushrooms to die for! We had a great night, thanks to Wildfish Pros: excellent service more

Lovely night out 2/28/2009

My friends and I heard about a small sushi place in arlington heights and finally found a chance to go. This place is absolutely adorable from the atmosphere, deco to the quick, friendly service. I ordered the sea bass which was perfectly cooked with a unique marinate on it. I also ate some of my friend's catepillar roll which was delicious!! Our server was very attentive which added to our great night out. I will be going back soon! Pros: ambience, service, and of course food Cons: Parking is on a lower level more

Truly Appalling 2/16/2009

In 29 years, I?ve never eaten at a place that attempted to rush my party out as abruptly as this one did. At 8:55, our waitress informed us that another party had a 9:00 reservation and that we needed to finish up. Because our friends had pre-ordered a special dessert, the waitress took it upon herself to bring out the dessert as my friend's wife was literally chewing a piece of maki.\r \r The waitress then explained that the manager was ""making me do this,"" and she was sorry - but that we still had to leave (as a table of food remained). After mentioning my displeasure to the manager, she offered me a $25 gift certificate. Unfortunately, at this place, $25 buys you one roll and leaves you with a few dollars left over.\r \r Sushi for 4 - $200.\r Dessert - $10\r Getting your table bussed as you?re still eating - Appalling.\r \r There are too many good sushi places around that will let you finish your meal (amazing concept). Avoid Wildfish like the plague. Cons: i've received better service at local burger joint. seriously. more

Our new favorite place for sushi 12/3/2008

We go for sushi about once a week, and also make it at home when we don't feel like going out.Last night was our first time at Wildfish, and definitely will not be our last. Our server was Hanna, she was very attentive with taking our orders, refilling the tea and softdrinks, appetizers were served very fast, best Gyoza and sauce I've had,Miso soup was very tasty. The entree came out on time shortly after the appetizers were finished.I think Hanna gave us fresh plates 3 or 4 times during the evening also.Prices were reasonable,I've paid less at other places, but I believe you get what you pay for.AAA++++.I highly recommend this place,as I will be returning again and again. Pros: underground parking garage, very friendly staff, excellent food more

Disappointing 9/22/2008

Last Friday night, we decided to try Wildfish in Arlington Heights. Based on the positive reviews we had read we expected excellent food. What we got was mediocre at best. We go out for sushi almost every week and are familiar with good Japanese food.\r \r We started our meal with two bowls of miso soup. The soup was thin and watery and had an oily slick on the top which would not dissipate no matter how much we tried to stir up the soup. The tofu was sparse and tiny. \r \r We ordered the Red Phoenix (spicy tuna over snow crab) Specialty Maki Roll. The Spicy Tuna was ground up (which was ground similar to Steak Tartar) and tasted vaguely fishy, but could not be called spicy. The snow crab was tasteless and at first we thought it was rice.\r \r We then ordered Nigiri Sushi (Smoked Salmon, Big-Eye Tuna, Salmon Roe, Scallop, and Crab) which was ok, but nothing special.\r \r We were not impressed with Wildfish and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. \r \r Save your money and go elsewhere.\r \r \r more

Best sushi place in the Northwest Suburbs!!!! 2/13/2008

I first tried Wildfish about 4 years ago when this part of Arlington Heights was rebuilt. I was fairly new to eating sushi, so it was a pleasant suprise to have the wonderful chefs help me along with selections for my date and I. Since my first time at Wildfish, I have tried countless other sushi places. None even come close to the quality of food at Wildfish. I just ate there again today, and I left with the feeling that I won't be able to eat at any other sushi restaraunt again. The sushi at Wildfish is unbelievably fresh, wildly creative, and can suprise even the most experienced sushi fans. They always have new ideas and beautiful adaptations to their dishes. Not to mention the atmosphere is amazing. It is cozy, romantic, and hip all at the same time. The chefs are still amazing with their creations, but they will also take the time to answer any questions you have. Some of the so-called 'finer' sushi restaraunts in the area bring such a 'we are too good for you' attitude that is such a turn-off. Try Wildfish! You will love it. Friendly chefs and servers, cool and elegant surroundings, and absolutely AMAZING sushi! Pros: Fresh and creative sushi, wonderful atmosphere, great personality Cons: Very busy at times....make a reservation for dinner. more

Best Sushi by FAR! 12/19/2007

I'm completely addicted to this place despite it's high price. Really the BEST sushi I have had by Far. I have been to most of the highly rated sushi places in Chicago (Sushi Samba, Mirai, Coast, Blu Coral, Tsunami, etc) and Wildfish is soooo much better. Though I live in Chicago and it's a bit of a trip, it's completely worth the price and the distance from the city. The only problem is that it has made me a complete snob about sushi! My favorites are the Red Phoenix, the Crispy Spicy Tuna, the Caterpiller, and the Crunchy Muffy. Delicious!!! Pros: special maki rolls, appetizers, salads, desserts, service, booths, martinis Cons: a little pricey more

Great but really pricey 10/27/2007

Me and my husband tried this place last night. We both agreed that the sushi was fresh and really original (the one with the mozzerella cheese melted all over it was really good and interesting), but at 12-18 dollars a roll (for the good ones, and if you're going to try this place, you must get the good ones), it's kind of hard to think about going back and trying more. It was a really comfortable and hip place, with cool music playing--definitely romantic! Also, there is a full bar, although, beware that the martinis are not a very good deal. My Cosmo was really heavy on the cranberry. Overall very good if you can afford it. Pros: Originality and quality of sushi Cons: Really expensive more

Great Sushi and good ambiance. 10/19/2007

Ever since moving to Chicago, I've been searching for a decent sushi place. Wildfish is definitely going to be the sushi restaurant I'll be going to from now on, and I recommend it to everybody. I'm a huge sushi fan, and Wildsushi had QUALITY sushi you could only taste in Japan, Korea, or nice hotel sushi bars. Ambiance of the place is romantic and classy. It's an awesome place to take out guests or dates. It is on the pricier side (the price on the menu for nigiri and sashimi is for ONE piece), but it was worth every cent. I recommend the Special Spicy Tuna Roll - AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: sushi, ambience Cons: none! more

Best Sushi we have ever had!!!! 5/23/2006

I have too much to say about this restaurant in a post. Cosmo contmpo in style with great ambiance and exceptional cuisine...I have been with my wife to many sushi restaurants spanning the country and have never been to a place as good as this. The menu is cleverly created with ingenious new tastes we will continue to go back for. The staff is impecable and even when busy seem to waiting only on you. Only thing I can say as a negative is the the music (techno)seemed to be a little loud when we went back last week. I can deal with that!!! more

it not the sme anymore 4/29/2006

I've been to wildfish several times know and it just keep getting better and better, the food is great and very creative, and the service is just wonderfull. but what happened, the quaulity is not there and it seems not the same any more? Cons: management bad more

LOVED IT!! 9/20/2005

I have been all around the suburbs trying to find a decent place for ""non-fishy"" sushi. Wildfish offers a great selection of traditional and contemporary sushi, as well as delicious sushi-free dishes. You can't beat it, I'm addicted!! The restaurant is much less crowded during the weekdays. more

Excellent! 8/26/2005

We were very impressed with everything we tasted at Wildfish. The Tataki Tuna appetizer was a must-have. We ordered sushi (california, spicy tuna, sunset rolls) as well as a hot entree (salmon) for dinner and both were delicious. Everything tasted fresh and looked beautiful! The service was a bit slow, but SO worth the wait! The dining room itself was a bit tight/crowded, so I wouldn't recommend going with a big group or children. I plan on returning to Wildfish regularly. more

Sonsai! 7/19/2005

Excellent ambience, romantic and highly stylized. The most impressive menu offerings of inventive and high quality maki rolls, appetizers, and creative cooked fare as well. The black rice is hearty and healthy, the sushi pieces perfectly sized and well priced. My husband and I have been to many contemporary sushi houses, and this one reminds us of Sushi Ran in Salsaulito, California. Great place for a date as well as a group of friends as they have private, comfortable booths as well. more

great sushi 2/28/2005

We went on a sunday 5:00pm and it was not crowded at all. We were famished and left satiated. The highlights were the filet dinner, ginger calamari roll, black sushi and the special sushi for the evening. We have eaten at swordfish in geneva and love that restuarant also. This was a very romantic restuarant. We cannot wait to go back. Very reasonably priced for a family of four(under 100). GO IF YOU CAN... Pros: excellent food, fresh sushi, good value Cons: hidden location, very dark more

WiLd FiSh RoCkS! 12/20/2004

My first sushi experience was at Wild Fish, and since going, I have become addicted to it! I have gone to many other sushi restaurants, and fail to find anything that can even compare to Wild Fish!!! It's amazing to have such a fantastic place so close to home! No more pretentious sushi bars in the city for me! I'm going to Wild Fish, Baby!!! p.s. My boyfriend & I had our first date there in Feb. '04 and we're still together! Great date spot ;o) Pros: Artistic, Fresh food, unique menu more

neuvo sushi at its finest 12/3/2004

excellent atmosphere & excellent sushi - the sushi is of extremely high quality (the best presentation of tekka don I've had in a while). its also some of the most interesting sushi you'll find -- rolls you've never heard of, beautiful presentation, optional ""black"" rice, etc... I'd say that Wildfish and Sagano (up in barrington area) are the two best sushi places in the NW burbs. This is the sister rest. to Blowfish down in Chicago. more

Fantastic!!!! 6/27/2004

I have tried many sushi restaurants and nothing has come close to Wildfish. This place is the best. It has the freshest sushi. The presentation is a work of art. You have to try it yourself to believe it. more
