On a recent vacation to Central Minnesota, we took some time to check out the Wild Wedge mini golf course in Pequot Lakes. After playing some pretty mediocre mini golf courses in my life – I was very pleasantly surprised with this course. When we first walked up to the cute caboose, which held the cashier stand, we noticed that you could purchase alcoholic beverages for enjoyment on the course and we wondered if this was quite right. But the course was very well maintained and very well designed.
There were 18 holes on the course. When we visited they were doing a special to buy one round get the second round free – but we only played once because we had to get back to the cabin for lunch.
Each hole was well designed and offered a unique challenge. There were some with shortcuts, many with obstacles, and several with unique names and shapes.
When I got back home and looked up their website it was neat to read the story about the design of the course. It says, “In doing research for our course, we went to Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head, SC, which has almost 100 mini golf courses and our research group (consisting of 4 adults and 5 kids from ages 8-16) collectively played almost 4,000 holes of mini golf. Our course incorporates some of the best ideas we saw there, and the kids all got to pick their favorite holes for the course.”
There is a waterfall in the middle of the course and other well kept landscaping features.
If you are ever in the Pequot Lakes area, I highly recommend you check this course out.
