Best

I have been lucky enough to travel a lot with business and have eaten in many a restaurant in many cities...

Worst

The food is great, but the service is just O.K. Someone needs to remind the waitstaff to come back down to earth. It is as if the waitstaff is too snobby and not enough about ...

A little pricey, but well worth it! 9/16/2005

This fantastic pan-asian restaurant is high class, yet doesn’t charge ultra-high-class prices for the excellent food they serve. The atmosphere is modern and the restaurant itself is quite large. All of the five dishes we ordered were delicious, and the waiter was very polite and attentive to our table, which I greatly appreciated. more

wild ginger has gotten dissappointing 9/14/2005

My folks were in town and we went to one of our old standbys-Wild Ginger, for lunch. It was a slow time, and although the portions were huge, the food was rather uninspired and also too spicy. more

Wild Ginger 9/12/2005

Wild Ginger used to be my favorite place for a yummy dinner back before they moved to their current location. When they moved, their quality took a serious dive (over cooked crab, etc.) and it's been years now inching its way back to what it once was. My favorites are the street hawker beef sate (amazing), aromatic duck (like peking but different seasonings) and crab (after 3 instances of overcooked crab I stopped ordering this one). This is one of those places in Seattle that you must try and if you didn't eat there years ago, you won't know what you're missing! more

Excellent dining, if you can stand the tourists 9/9/2005

I have never been disapointed with a meal at Wild Ginger. The food is always wonderfully seasoned and prepared and the staff is courteous and the service swift. The prime downtown location makes this one of the businest restaunants in town, especially at peak lunch and dinner hours. I highly reccommend making reservations unless you want to scrunch into the small lobby area and wait for 20 minutes. more

A dinner spot for out of towners 9/8/2005

You can't go wrong with Wild Ginger. You usually don't have to wait for a table and the food is always well prepared. The menu show cases the Asian-Fusion Seattle is known for, and has a selection that will appeal to a wide range of palates. more

Great combination of flavors 8/29/2005

I like duck a lot and this place has really good duck. Their seven flavor beef is good too. You always have to make reservations here but i would highly recommend this place for good Asian Fusion food. more

Seven Flavor Beef, oh how I love you! 8/18/2005

I'm still a bit nostalgic for Wild Ginger's old space, but once the food arrives at the table that feeling fades fast. The delicate flavors and aromas are as fantastic as ever. I challenge you to find anything on the menu that isn't palate pleasing, but I strongly recommend the Seven Flavor Beef. I love this dish! The service is lightning fast, which is remarkable considering the size of the place. Dinner at Wild Ginger is always something special. more

One of the Top 5 in Seattle 8/15/2005

When I moved to Seattle in 1994, Wild Ginger was a local favorite, hidden away underneath and south of Pike Place Market, with an unusually eclectic Asian menu. Over the years, it seemed to become more popular, he quality of the food seemed to decline, and I stopped going. I once went there after work on a weekday night and the place was so crowded with singles that we could barely hear ourselves eat. But then Wild Ginger moved to a cavernous new space (actually, a renovated old theater) on Third Avenue across the street from Benaroya Hall, and it miraculously changed. The bar (now quite separate from the main room) still hops, but the feeling of space is overwhelming and luxurious. Best of all, the food is better than ever, and it keeps getting better. I'm particularly partial to the curries and the marinated lamb, if they're offering it. But you really can't go wrong. They also have a pretty good kids menu (though you'd never expect it), so it's an excellent way to take an extended family out. It's one of my favorites in Seattle. more

It's the Top 7/21/2005

Want to get into a good argument in Seattle? Bring up the Wild Ginger at a dinner party. Seattelites love or hate this restaurant. First the facts: Wild Ginger is a largish four star fusion food restaurant in downtown Seattle. Now the opinions: many people seem to think that Wild Ginger "sold out" when it moved from its older, smaller location and became a high profile player in the Seattle restaurant scene. It is sometimes called over-rated on the grounds that there are better fusion food restaurants in the world. Personally, I've yet to see another fusion food restaurant I'd want to be seen in. Wild Ginger has a fabulous menu. Dining family style is recommended. Ask your server for advice, as Wild Ginger's specialties are excellent (particularly the duck). A few items are so-so, such as some of the curries. more

Seafood and Southeast Asian Food to die for! 7/12/2005

Wild Ginger is located in the heart of downtown. Nearby Benaroya Hall. They have moved to this location fairly recently (in the past 10 years anyways) though Wild Ginger has been packing them in for years! Wild Ginger is always packed and never dissappoints! Wild Ginder offers a cool satay bar which offers primo satay and drinks for the businessmen. The set-up of the place is really cool. While it would not appear to be a kids place they are very kid friendly. I have taken my kids there multiple times and even though my kids are not crazy about this type of food they always love to go there. I reccommend you check it out. more

A must-eat in Seattle 7/12/2005

Ah ... Wild Ginger: one of my all-time favorite restaurants anywhere. I'm not alone in that, either, as I'm sure you can tell from the many recommendations on Epinions. What makes Wild Ginger so special? So many things, really, but first and foremost has to be their unique selection of menu offerings that cover Asia from north to south. Personally, I don't think a trip to Wild Ginger could be complete without a shared platter of Fragrant Duck. Oh, my word, there needs to be a 12-step program to recover from the addiction to this dish. These Long Island ducks are prepared over two days, or so I hear, and are served neatly sliced with steamed hum bow buns and a plum sauce you'll savor from the moment you first taste it. The szechuan peppercorns alongside the plum sauce add just the right amount of contrasting taste to make this juicy duck dish worth the usual problems getting a reservation at this hoppin' place on a Friday night (although, I've found the duck to be a bit drier on Fridays interestingly enough). Another "must-have" with the duck: szechuan green beans. Green beans? What could be so special about green beans? Oh, my friend, you have not had Wild Ginger's green beans. And once you do, those canned Blue Lake green beans will never, ever do! Although they aren't always on the menu, ask for them and you still may be able to get a plate of them. The service at Wild Ginger is gracious, never pushy, never overly attentive. All that goes a long way towards a pleasant evening meal, I think. Add to that, an atmosphere that is in muted earth tones and black, lofty, and not overly Asian or Pacific Northwestern, either. I will say, though, that Wild Ginger's former haunts were much more to my liking ... much more cozy and you felt like you found a treasure ... an exclusive restaurant. Their new restaurant is so big and somewhat noisy that it almost feels like a good portion of the city is eating there with you at the same time. Pleasantly, though, the kitchen seems to have been able to maintain quality even though they are obviously serving more diners at once now. Seattle is full of some absolutely terrific restaurants. Wild Ginger is one that definitely should not be missed. more

hasn't disappointed me yet! 6/25/2005

I love Wild Ginger. three words: spicy green beans. amazing and the leftover that people keep picking at even when they are stuffed. for how big this place is and the number of people they churn through i think the quality is consistant and excellent. it is hard to get in although the satay bar is always open first come first serve and the entire menu is available. considering that their daily special sheet is longer than most restaurants' entire menus, go with lots of people so you can share family style and taste lots of different things. their dessert menu is pretty short (three things) but my understanding is The Triple Door (which is owned by the Wild Ginger people and right underneath the restaurant) has a fabulous dessert chef who bakes and makes magic. Believe it or not, this is a child friendly place as well. they have lots of high chairs and enough buzz to mask any child's noise. more

Love the food 4/7/2005

This place is always busy but when you get in the food is great. Love this place, but hard to get a seat unless you make reservations. more

Wild Ginger 9/23/2004

Our dining experiences at Wild Ginger have been very inconsistent. An enormous restaurant with possibly over 20 cooks on any given night, it's not surprising. We've had meals there where the food was so succulent that the entire table came to a dead silence while people focused on food. Then we've had meals where the same favorite dishes were really just okay - not acceptable for such a high dollar dinner. more

one of the best asian restaurants in seattle 7/22/2004

Wild Ginger has become an institution. It's AWESOME. The food is excellent. It's a great place for tourists, companies, groups, couples and indivuals. They're known fo rtheir delicious satays of all kinds. The decor is lovely, service is not the best, and the price is expensive but overall you can't go wrong at this restaurant. Also, I think they're able to host large group dinners -- not sure but this is the place I'd check first. more
