I am the owner of the Wild Bird Garden and I have been encouraged by several loyal customers, many with small children, to respond to the comments posted on June 30, 2011. Since 1990, I suspect that thousands of kids have accompanied their parents/grandparents to this store. I am quite confident that they will continue to visit this store for many years to come. Most responsible parents entering the store scope out the scene and immediately realize that with hand-blown glass and unique fragile items, they won't let their kids roam about. This was not the case for this customer. As a business owner, I would be recklessly irresponsible to condone very young children wandering about the store out of sight of their parents. Finally, to the customer with the June 30th posting, I never thought your kids were "unruly or rowdy" and contrary to your claim, your kids' behavior was never disturbing to me. However, I was irritated by your behavior. I found it surprising that I had to ask you 3-4 times to keep your young children by your side. I was genuinely concerned for your children's safety and for the store's fragile merchandise. You demonstrated total indifference to my request and I finally suggested that if you were unwilling to keep your young kids near your side, maybe you should leave. Having said all that, you and your 3 children are welcome back any time, just keep them by your side like most of my customers have done for the past 21 years.
