I do live in NJ and am in need of some decent bars/restaurants with good food, good and reasonable drinks, and a decent and fairly mature atmoshere (you know, no 20's crowd only) Pros: Yes, Drinks Are Strong Cons: May Not Get What You're Supposed to more

This is place is an extension of my living room...that is, if I cooked and had enough liquor to keep my friends happy. When I first walked into the White Star, I became fast friends with the locals and the staff. This gave it an automatic feel of a neighborhood bar because I saw the same people elsewhere in Jersey City, which was refreshing. Pros: Neighborhoody; $6 Menu; Strong Drinks more

The best place to eat on wednesday night! 1/24/2007

The White Star is a great bar. They have a special on dinner on wednesday night where entrees are five bucks! Where else can you eat dinner for five bucks? They also have live dj's on the weekend. The only problem with the place is this one bartender with blonde hair. She is very rude. Pros: Great food at great prices. Cons: One rude bartender! more

My favorite part of this bar is the fact that you can make your own Bloody Mary's on Sunday mornings. It's great! The journey down pavonia feels long but it's well worth the trip once you get there. The prices seem a little New Yorkish but the drink specials make up for it (Martini Tuesdays!!!!) as does the good music and live DJ's that frequent the bar on the weekends. Pros: Great Music, Great Sunday Brunch, Good Drink Specials Cons: out of the way, manhattan prices inNJ more
